So there's pretty much two main standings in Abortion; Pro choice or Pro life.

Pro choice: Favoring or supporting the legal right of women and girls to choose whether or not to continue a pregnancy to term.

Pro life: Advocating the legal protection of human embyos and fetuses, especially by favoring the outlawing of abortion on the ground that it is the taking of a human life.

So where exactly do you stand in this? Personally, I'm Pro choice.

    Such an intense topic to bring up on the forums o.o;

Despite all the consequences of taking a life and all of that fun topic details. I am still placing my vote onto "Pro Choice" >.>

To be honest, I think it depends on the situation. If a woman is raped, or someone deceived her into getting pregnant, then an abortion is completely reasonable. If a woman is just having reckless sex or tried to get pregnant but now regrets it, she has to take responsibility and have the baby. If you thought you could handle it then, you shouldn't doubt it after it already happened.

Well, there's two sides to that, too - a woman having reckless sex is the same as a man having reckless sex. She shouldn't have to cut back on that because she can't get an abortion. It's a bit silly, in my opinion, that people think it's so awful for women to be as sexually active as men. The only difference is the way society views it. Situations change as well. It may be a financial issue. Before pregnancy, she may have been able to afford a baby, but after, her circumstances changed and she can no longer afford to take care of one. Maybe it was one of those reckless choices we all make sometimes that, when given time to think over, we realize was a mistake.
Either way though, I personally don't think it should be discussed for one huge reason:
People are arguing over the right to have an abortion. If it's a right, it can't be taken away. That's why it's called a right. We shouldn't have to fight and debate about it either.
And my last thing to say on it is, men shouldn't get to decide what women do with their body. It's their body, not ours.Trying to restrict what people do with their bodies is absolutely ridiculous. It doesn't affect you. If you don't want a tattoo, then you simply choose not to get one, because that's your choice for your body.

I'm pro-choice in any situation. Given the population trend of the Earth right now we are not hurting for more mouths to feed, people who don't want a kid anyway are probably not going to make good parents which is just going to cause a slew of other potential problems down the road, and really, I don't view life as an inherent gift. Nobody asks for it, nobody misses it if they don't have it. I support a woman's choice for an abortion and quite frankly would recommend it for a lot of these people getting pregnant these days, the young people who effectively ruin their lives, put themselves into life-long poverty and wanting for the sake of having a kid with some irresponsible douchebag they don't care about, a kid they don't want or need or can look after successfully.

Then there's stem cells too, which have some real untapped medical use, which can be generated this way, generated from something that people are choosing to do anyhow. Abortion makes sense to me and will stop making sense to me when the species is almost dying out and we are desperate for more reproduction. Then and only then does it become a sin in my eyes.

Pro-choice. I don't really think the decision of an abortion should be placed in the hands of old white men to begin with.

(Also, I get a bit sick of some in the pro-life crowd referring to "pro-choice" as "pro-abortion".)

Pro-choice. I should have full control over my body.
I can see why some people are pro-life(ugh that makes them sound like miracle workers or something) but imo that usually comes from ignorance imo.
Exactly. In the witch burnings in the 1800s, one of the reasons witches were burned was b/c they had any sex drive at all. Nowadays it isn't as harsh ofc but woman are still shamed for dressing or appearing like a sexually active.

I was waiting for this topic... ahaha

So everyone here pretty much already summed up my feelings. Some people treat abortion as murdering a human being... but, well, Doima summed it up best for me. I don't really know what to believe, though.

Interesting how no one has made an argument for Pro-life yet. I guess it's because that mentality is mostly present in older generations; the new generation seems to be much more tolerant of the situation.

    I'm not pro-choice. I'm not really pro-life either.

It kind of seems you are all forgetting that less than a week after conception, the fetus is very much alive and not part of the pregnant woman. It's not her body anymore, and in some way it's like choosing to do away with somebody else's life just because it'd be inconvenient, traumatizing, etc.

I do understand the points made and many of them are valid, and I would never call somebody out for aborting or for thinking they should abort or anything, since it's very much none of my busyness, and as far as I know, many women that have aborted tend to regret it for years, if not forever. It's just something I'd never recommend doing.

My mom had me when she was 17. I wonder if that had happened now or in a few years, whether she'd have had me or not.

Also, note that I haven't mentioned reckless sex and sexism because it doesn't really affect my views in this. I just don't think it's a choice for the mother to make, or for anybody else anyway. (Except probably the fetus, but I don't think that's very viable :) )
