There comes some time when a game developer decides to add some sort of Product Placement in their Video Games. Games that I am aware of in terms of Product Placement is Metal Gear Solid (I don't remember which one but it contained Mountain Dew and Doritos as a Power-up), Splinter cell series (They had this kind of Mentos for product placement), Matrix (Nothing but Pepsi), and most Sport related games. Sometimes Product Placement in games are really minimal, and sometimes just go unnoticed. Some devs have no issue making a substitute to Coke or other types of products we have. Compared to Movies, I don't obviously see much of a comparison, but when a game does have Product Placement do you think that game development team is selling out?

Do you think Product Placement should even exist in Video Games? What games do you know that are literally just a video game for a product? (I can only think of Pepsi Man) What product would you like to see in a specific game, that seems fitting with the games tone and genre?

I don't think it should exist since it is pretty gimmicky. However, it happens all the time. Take Xenoblade for example, the new game is pretty much product placement for the New 3DS. However, product placement isn't always a bad thing. They help support the game and sometimes, the product is actually pretty good and helps bring more gamers together with mocking some products.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a McDonald's based video game on the NES, and this was in the 80's. There were (I believe) lots of product displays in that game. They're not really a problem. I don't see them often, whether it be back then or in the present.

Well product placement is really how they make a lot of their money, so I won't deny them that right to make money. However, I don't like product placement when the placement gets way too painfully obvious and gets in the way of the game and the gameplay.

No absolutely no product placement! It's just bad and makes you feel a bit robbed tbh...

If the company pays good money for their logo to be in the game, it's kind of worth it. I'd consider this stuff good marketing, and I like to find these stuff, especially when I'm really, really bored.
For example the Tales of Series likes to throw their little plushies, and stuff in another Tales game. Great Marketing, but I've already bought every game you've made.
