What is your opinion on it? Do you find yourself gauging others based on their grammar?

For me, I tend to type really fast and take shortcuts so mine isn't the best ^^ But I'm not too worried.

Clear grammar and spelling is the first step to being solidly understood. The more it is used, the less you will tend to be misinterpreted. ...That, and it saves time for your readers. If u spk in txt-tlk constntly, it tkes tht much lngr 2 decipher ur w0rdz. I will not base another's merit based on their word or text choice (I base that on other things), but I admit I do prefer it when their speech is plain and easy to understand.

I try to spell my words correctly whenever possible. If I am looking for a word I don't recall clearly, or am looking for an appropriate word for the subject, I will consult a dictionary as assistance. I wouldn't call myself a 'grammar Nazi' (though I'm close), and I care more about intent being clearly communicated. I exercise this for myself as well - after all, I want my readers to know exactly what I'm talking about, and not think I'm talking about something else entirely.

I expect people to put a minimal amount of effort into their spelling and grammar, but I'm not too concerned about it. Not everyone can be as perfect as me, after all
I try to keep mine flawless, but...... well, it's not always easy >.>
I get really disappointed though, when someone mixes up your and you're, or lose and loose, or anything like that. They're not interchangeable, I don't understand why people think they are.

I try to do my best to have good grammar and spelling as often as possible. When I text or use instant messaging on my phone I'm not as worried, and so tend to have errors and issues, but if I want to post an opinion (Say on a lake themed forum site) or if I'm writing, I always strive for the best grammar. The only real issue I have is then and than... I don't know why, I just can't ever get those to be correct in my mind. I finally got to and too though so I'm making progress (I don't think I used too my entire public school education)

I definitely find it important for myself to always have at least near perfect spelling and grammar, simply because it's a good habit to have. If I get used to having good grammar and spelling when it's less important, then it's more likely that I will have good grammar and spelling when it is important. You don't really lose anything by trying to have good grammar all the time, only positives.

Then again, I don't care about the grammar of others unless it's hard to understand what they are trying to say, especially if it's obvious that English isn't their first language. And if I'm in a casual conversation with someone I definitely don't care about my spelling and grammar as much.

Edit: If however somebody is trying to explain their reasoning for something or persuade people to do something in someway however I do feel like proper spelling and grammar is necessary and will look down on people who don't use it, because otherwise it seems like little effort or thought has been put in to what they are trying to get across.

It depends on what language Im typing
English for example I try to always have proper grammar and spelling tho sometimes I messed up >.>
also I usually dont use apostrophes because my keyboard simply doesn't have them and sometimes autocorrect doesn't have the correct spelling of those. So It really bothers me when I see natives speaking so terrible
But with spanish is a complete different story Im actually really lazy while typing in spanish so I tend to use shortcuts and stuff and when it comes to accents I simply omit them at all. So I really dont care how others type in spanish
tho if you butcher the language Ill fite you >:T

spelLing and punctation is reaallly impootunt i h8 newbs hoo can't speel

In all seriousness, I prefer all words and statements to be put in a sentence, but that doesn't mean that I always do. When saying a couple of words, I wholeheartedly understand not using punctuation and stuff, it's all good. However, I don't like it when people spell sloppily and don't attempt to fix it. I know that there are some people who don't speak english, and that's okay. I'm talking about the english-speakers who do know how to spell but are too lazy to fix it. In the end though, I can probably decipher what they are trying to say. Also, I kind of suck at grammar, so most grammar errors are excusable too.

On here, I don't pay too much attention to it. On other sites, I use the English language to the best of my ability. As far as judging others on it, as long as I can understand it and it isn't text speech (I don't meant acronyms, I mean using wud, cuz, etc.), I'm fine with it, or if it's in a satirical manner, I'm fine with that, too.

I don't care too much about GUM because this isn't an English class. A lot of English rules in general confuse me, and I've been speaking English my entire life. Although it is important, especially if you want to get across a point, I'm not too strict on it.

In my posts, I'm always mindful of my grammar and spelling, but that doesn't mean it always works out as well as I want it to. Sometimes I'll forget a word, sometimes I'll get autocorrected, sometimes my keyboard will do something like this: keybokeyboardard. Yeah, it happens occasionally. But that's not the point.

When it comes to grammar, punctuation, and spelling, I'll always try my best to use them correctly in posts, PMs, emails, or whenever I need to be professional. I'll still use acronyms from time to time, and one word I always shorten is "because", mainly cuz I've been typing "cuz" for so long. When I look at it, it doesn't even seem wrong to me.
When chatting on places such as Skype or Discord, I'll use acronyms more often, as well as shortenings of some words. Those words are main "you" to "u", "your" to "ur", " though" to "tho", " serious" to "srs", and etc. But I only shorten those words when I'm trying to be silly/not srs. Think about it; Which one sounds less serious: "I'm seriously gonna kick you in the face." Vs "I'm srsly gonna kick u in the face". Saying the second one in a Skype chat let the other person know that I'm obviously joking around. The first one has a period at the one, so you know I'm being very srs.

On the note of punctuation, you'll probably barely ever find me using periods at the end of my sentences on Skype or Discord (if it's a single). I just don't find it necessary, it makes the atmosphere too stiff, in my opinion. I usually use all other types of punctuation though, such as commas and apostrophes.

One thing I've been very mindful of lately is trying to always use the correct version of "its" or "it's". For the longest time, I thought "it's" was the possessive version and that "its" meant "it is". I don't have much trouble with grammar or punctuation if I know the rules, but this one I seemed to have mixed up.

It mainly depends on the tone I'm going for. When I'm being serious, I put effort into checking my spelling and grammar. I turn autocorrect off whenever I can because I find that I'm right more often than it is. However, I'm not a supr srs guy, so i rite like this ironiclly to show im jus jokin around. But even when I'm typing bad intentionally, I can still be a bit picky with punctuation. When it comes to how much I can stand from others, I'm pretty chill about it unless I actually have no idea what they're trying to say.

People who correct grammar in casual chats and on social media are the worst. :( I don't see how anyone thinks they're fun to hang around with if they're gonna spend time correcting your grammar constantly.

I don't digitally talk to people who use stupid and lazy misspellings. "ur" "4" "r u". I pretend you never typed/texted me anything. I gave up on teaching people spelling and grammar a long time ago, but that doesn't mean I like reading that nonsense.

One time I was asking this girl out, she's nice, seemed smart, sell-spoken, all that good stuff. I get her number, and she texts me something like "is ths ur #" and later "y havent u txtd back". *shudder*. Luckily I've hardly seen her since, because it would not have worked out.
