    Which protagonist did you play as in X/Y, the girl or boy? Why did you make your selection? Do you usually play as your own gender or do you prefer to make a choice based on character design? Have you ever played as the other protagonist (be it Serena or Calem) in another file?

    I chose to play as a girl, since she's adorable, and her clothes selection is pretty charming and cute, haha. I know it might sound weird, but I tend to favor more of the girl protatonists' designs than the boys, argh. I haven't played as the boy yet, but, maybe I could on my X file?! Hmm!

    I chose Calem for my X runthrough. I've chosen the male protagonists the first time I play it for every game with the exception of Ruby (because I was excited to play as May, the anime character). Then sometimes I'll choose the female character if the I restart the game.

    Since I get both versions of all games in the main series I play as both, the only time I didn't play as both genders was when HGSS came out because I didn't like the female protagonist's design. But for my main games I always seem to choose male over female, I can't remember having a the female in any of my main games since Crystal.

    In X I picked Calem and in Y I picked Serena.

    Twice through I chose the male character, but this time around I chose the female character. She is super attractive and I like the clothing options (especially hats).

    I chose the female protagonist for both versions. It would fit so that way it feels like I am a part of the story. ^^;

    I chose the girl because in my opinion, she has a better design. She's really cute and that really just swayed my opinion more than anything.

    Throughout all of the games, I have always chosen the male character, however whenever I restart the game, I play as the female option.

    I always play as the girl anyway, but I also wouldn't want to play as the boy in X&Y because the girl's clothing choice is so much more vast and varied! :D I found it a lot of fun to change my character's hair and clothes. I'm still very attached to my outfit in X&Y, and I do wish I could look the same in ORAS, uuu.

    I played as the fem. protag. in both playthroughs in Y and the male protag. in all my playthroughs in X since I like playing both genders if given the opportunity. The gender I play as depends on the character's design; in this case I preferred the fem. protag.'s so I played as her first. Also, given how XY has Trainer Customization (as future games will likely have as well), the clothing each gender can wear also factors into it. For example, I loooove a lot of the clothing the fem. protag. can wear and am not a big fan of the male protag.'s.

    I played the boy..I wanted to try with the girl, because the girls often have the best clothes on the game...and in this case I was right >.<

    I played as both male and female. The female was my first pick I liked her design way over then the males but I enjoy some of the males outfits including their hair cuts which got me to enjoy the males even more. Either way they did a great job with both of their designs so it was rather tricky to decide which one to chose first.

    I chose the male character on my X file, though to be honest, if I could choose again, I would probably go with the female one. The only reason why I went with the male one is simply because I am a man, but that's all there is to it. After all, I'm not playing as myself in the game, I am playing as a certain character. That's also the reason why I didn't name my in-game character after me, that just seems strange in my opinion. So, I guess that justifies playing the female character? Maybe, I don't know? Eh, whatever xD

    In Y, I picked the male character option... And seeing the customization, I was half-disappointed. At least I had something I'd wear IRL. In any future games with customization, I'll probably pick the female option.

    As for Omega Ruby, I went with the female option there. Because this was, like, my 6th time through Hoenn, and I gave no $#!+$.

    I chose the girl my first time through. I'm replaying as the boy, and, while the girls had a larger variety, I prefer the options the boy has.

    I regret playing Calem :p Serena just seem like a better character design overall, and she has better clothing options :x

    I played as Serena. I've always played as my own gender in my gain save files but since I only have X, I haven't tried playing as Calem. I guess playing as the female character is a big plus since she has more clothing options than Calem and I think they have more customization options in PR videos as well with makeup and lipstick and all that jazz.

    I played as the female protag, because the customization options for her were adorable. I did some snooping on the hair styles and clothing options before I made my decision, however regularly I do choose the female mainly just because I am a girl.
