What is one quality that you value in yourself, and one quality that you value in others? Elaborate.

The ability to make people laugh. I don't mean the ability to be funny, but being able to make someone laugh, period. That is my only consistent goal when I get up: "Today, I want to make someone laugh."

Hm... Someone who will attempt to understand you, and who wants to see others happy. I really try to be there for people who look like they need it. I don't want someone that I care about to feel sad.

I guess it would be my Niceness. I'm a pacifist, and a lot of people tell me that I'm nice and I "look" really approachable.
Which is why I made my 1st friend in college. She sat next to me and we just started talking.
I asked her why she sat with me on the 1st day, she said I looked approachable.
That also applies when I'm walking down a random street. People ask the time, etc.
I'm scared of getting caught in conflict. I'm usually the neutral party that helps sort it out.
Truthfully, I'm a shy and quiet type, but you might not notice that much here.

Quality that I value in others? I guess it would be their trustworthiness.
But I admire most are the people who are confident with themselves.
I guess that goes with the lack of self-esteem.

I look good apparently, so I'll go with that xD

Tbh I don't like making myself look like I'm the greatest person on earth, because I'm not. But if I say so myself, I'm a nice person :) That's also what I like in others, so I want to be nice to others as well.

Qualities about myself? One of the reasons I'm an LV admin is because of how dedicated I am and how much effort I put in to things. If I'm interested in it - I'll go beyond the expectations. I love to be able to help people and in general do nice things for my fellow folks. I'm incredibly against negativity (Though even I can be negative) so I don't get along too well with folks who enjoy spreading pessimism, discrimination and violence. I know how to make folks laugh, too. I love making others happy out of my silliness.

I look for people who can put up with me, haha. I'm actually very outspoken a lot of the time and can be a bit over the top, but I can tell I've found some amazing friends when they manage to put up with my shenanigans. I love my friends, and all of you guys, too. (Even though we're all friends)

My best quality, as strange as it sounds, is being decent at everything. Now, allow me to explain it a bit further:

I'm not being egoistic here, not at all. That's why I said decent, and not good at everything. Here are a few examples of things that I've done in the past: Playing chess, playing guitar, Thai-kickboxing, making YouTube videos, drawing things, writing a story... This list literally goes all over the place, from music to sports, to artistic things. And I'm not bad at any of these things. I won't say I'm good at it, not at all, there are many people who surpass by skills by far in everything I do. But most people have one specific thing they are really good at, while they suck at most others. I suppose that my best quality is the capability to be at least decent at anything I do...

On a last note, I have to say that this quality is more frustrating as it is helpful. Look at it from the other side: no matter what I do, I'm never really good at it. I'm always just decent. It's been annoying me for quite some time now, because whatever I try, I can't seem to find out where my real skill is laying...

But hey, could be worse :D

One quality I value in myself:
Patience. I have a lot of this, and it helps me to better understand and deal with most situations. I often take this for granted, and don't realize how helpful it is until I see other people who have literally no patience. My mom, for example, sometimes I feel like she has a negative amount of patience. It has made me worried that my patience will plummet once I have children :(

One quality I value in others:
Being non-judgemental/open-minded/understanding. I have come to REALLY appreciate people who just understand that no one can be perfect, and if someone makes a mistake, it doesn't make them a terrible person. I have endless respect for people who can understand this and put it in practice. Nothing upsets me more than someone who constantly judges others, holds grudges without talking it through, listens to rumors and immediately accepts them as truth, or assumes things of people from just a few things they've said and/or done. This is all human nature, but some people go too far and turn extremely bitter over that stuff, and it's not only infuriating to see, it's really, really sad. :c

Compassion. The readiness and willingness to care for others. Maybe my objective is a little biased because my parents are both doctors. Plus I'm a pacifist myself. I have this strong believe and dedication that we should help others whenever we are able to. Think about it... Why hurt someone who is already in pain? Why does any country want to start a war? What would be the impact of war? Surely, a compassionate heart would make a positive difference.

One quality I value about myself is my ability to somehow make a word into a song.

One quality I value about others are how kind a person can be. I've seen people do some terrible things, and it's a nice change to see someone be nice. Even if it's a small gesture, I have so much respect for people who do the nice things.

Knowledge. Ignorance is the bane of existence - I value my knowledge (limited though it may be) above all else. Likewise, I try to encourage learning in others whenever I can. I don't care if you agree with me, I don't want you to just parrot my opinions. In fact, I actively look for people to disagree with - if I never find a good opposing argument, then it's very difficult to test if my own conclusions are valid. All I do is ask that people think and learn. Inspect the world, gather and process data, and always ask why.

Something I value about myself is the ability to cheer people up. Now, sometimes I don't feel like I'm the best at that, but I've been told that I'm good at it haha.

A quality I value in others is understanding. Sometimes I have issues with explaining things, and while I don't expect people to be mind readers, I want them to understand that sometimes I just can't explain the way I feel or such and it'll just make it worse if they keep pressuring me, and other such things like that.

I just realized that I can think of exactly 0 good qualities about myself. Other than self-discipline. (Which, frankly, used to be called common sense.)

Or maybe that's just humility talking?

Well, I'm a bit disappointed with myself now. But anyway, that's not the point; qualities I admire in others are... Conservation and resourcefulness.

Humans. Cutting down trees, polluting air, water, and earth, drilling oil out of the ground, further polluting Earth... It's disgusting. Their greed knows no bounds, they just keep wasting and wasting... And what happens when they run out of resources? They go somewhere else to drain that place of them! Genius plan, idiots.

People don't realize that the tiniest action can have long-reaching and long-lasting effects on Earth. One carbon emission too many, and suddenly we're all dead, burnt to a crisp by UV rays. Or drowned by East Antarctica's melting ice shelves. Or killed by global warming. Or, we can run out of freshwater and useable soil.

I'm digressing. Anyway, there's a day called Earth Overshoot Day. That date marks the day when the amount of resources, whether it be wood, soil, or even water, consumed by humans is too much for the Earth to regenerate. This day used to be in, what do you know, October in 2000. This year, it was way back in August. Slowly, we're draining everything that this planet has. When humanity has finally realized their mistake, finally realized their idiocy, it'll be too late, and everyone will die. End of story.

Which is why I value resourcefulness in the few people that have it. The people who can make do with whatever they have if they have to, and never take more than they need. The people who can get through the day with barely nothing, and still be content with their situation. It doesn't matter if your rich or poor - As long as you know how to balance your intake with what you can give back, then you're awesome.

These people will be the ones to lead the world to salvation.
The greedy ones? They'll end up killing themselves, and the world will only be better off without them.
