Have you ever played a video game where you just wonder... "how exactly did it deserve the rating of 'M' for Mature', or 'E' for everyone, and so on? Perhaps there was some factors in the game that you'd think the game should be at a higher, or lower rating?

For example, Ocarina of Time for the N64. It's 'E' for everyone, but... it has quite a few gore, doesn't it? Plus, there's the famous Shadow Temple. How many reports were there that children were shared of the Shadow Temple? Well, that's what'd think, anyway. I do believe that there's also some questionable 'M' for Mature games, which aren't really Mature at all. c:

I find it outrageous that Arkham City is rated T. I mean, there is blood dripping off of Batman's fist on the cover! That is definitely something that you should rate M.

Mainly the whole Arkham series, as Sihirl said above me. A lot of the conflict in the game is a lot worse than any call of duty game.

I'm not sure so sure about now days, but in the past ratings were more lenient, so I definitely had this feeling a lot. Was interesting to play some of these and then look at the ratings, haha.

IGN has the most bullshit ratings in the universe. 7.8 Too much water.
I still read them, but I buy the game myself, and then I make the decision on the rating.

Okay, so we have a slightly different rating system in Australia, so I'm not sure how well it translates. I think Teen = and M rating...

Any, the game for Ultimate Spiderman is rated M here... It wasn't that mature a game, there wasn't any real mature aspects to the game. I think the one thing that gave it a high rating was probably the venom stages where he consumes people to restore health. The way he does it though isn't that graphic, generally he does it facing away from the camera and when he does it he just pulls them into his chest in a way that isn't ultra disturbing... A few years after my PS2 stopped reading discs I went back to the cover and I was surprised to see that is was M rated. I played the game when I was eight and younger, it really had too high a rating.

I for one think it's goofy how Smash Melee and Brawl are each rated T, when both exist in a time when E10 exists. Not a drop of blood or one bad word. The only rated T worth content in either of them are in Brawl, Snake's sleeper choke grab can be kind of disturbing (But the victim gets right back up A-OK), and ZSSamus's outfit when she's metal (I paused once and giggled, then moved on with my life).

Similar for Ratchet and Clank. They each have like 1 or 2 instances of bad words (which the makers could easily have decided against before submitting it for rating), and the weapons are absolutely over the top unrealistic cartoon. I'm not saying they should be E, but like those Smash games, T seems too high (keep in mind I only played through Deadlocked, so the newer games might very well be raunchier).

I don't feel like Halo 3 deserved to be Rated M. Violence is something that is something that gets a game rated T. While yes, there was a lot of blood, it looked more like somebody took a glob of paint and threw it. It also says there's language, but there are only like 2 or 3 swears in the whole game.
