    Yay those glorious, dulcet tones.

Whether you're old-timey, like to listen to 'informed' discussions after a particular broadcast watershed or simply want a five-minute rundown of the day's local news and current affairs, radio has persisted to be a companion for many a savy listener down through the years, spanning several generations. Whilst it is, in the present day, ultimately molded by scratchy autotuned pop songs and numerous advertisements, it is one of the few legacy technologies that is still frequently used around the world. It is also one of the last technologies capable of receiving analog signals, although the transition to digital is currently in progress.

Do you like listening to the radio? Do you happen to own a radio and/or fm/am player? Do you listen to radio stations on the web? Discuss~

I personally stopped listening to the radio about 5 years ago and stopped relying on the radio to find new music.
After doing that, I started looking and finding new artists and songs on my own, through YouTube mainly up until about a year ago when I downloaded Spotify.

To me, the radio stations I used to listen to for hip-hop and rap have gotten much, much worse than they already were.
The ones for rock are still actually pretty good, so I don't mind listening to it if played. But I don't really listen to the radio anymore myself, just cuz I like choosing my own music and I know what I like and dislike listening to.

I don't always listen to the radio, but when I do, I prefer the news and talk.

Unfortunately for me, much of the music I like (other than some more popular samples of classic rock/metal, as well as things with universal appeal (Bohemian Rhapsody, 99 Red Balloons, Eye of the Tiger)) doesn't make it onto the radio. So it's news and talk for me.

It's not often that I listen to them in particular, but I do like to listen to WAMU 88.5 which has a FM broadcast coming out of Washington DC but is available online as well. Why do I listen to that station in particular? Because I'm pretty sure that within the next 60 or so years it will become Galaxy News Radio, and I won't pass up the opportunity to listen to phone in my opinion and talk to Three Dog's predecessor.

Standardly I use my PSP playlist for music; my car has a USB port through which I attach the PSP and play its tracks through my car speakers. That is what I do most of the time.

On occasion, however - especially when there are other people in my car - I will turn on a certain radio station, and is the only station I currently listen to. Said station plays classical music essentially constantly, with the only breaks being the announcers in between songs; there are zero commercials.

That's not to say that's always been the case. I did listen to other radio stations as well, usually those that played Oldies tunes; however, the classical station is, to me, the only station that has been consistently good. It's also quite a learning experience, and I love classical music, so I get to hear tunes from them I may have never heard otherwise.

In the end it will be either my PSP (most of the time) or the classical radio station (when I have company while I'm driving).

I honestly still like the radio a fair amount. I guess cause I can normally bear the crap to get to the good pop songs, or I listen to a station with alternative station. There is also a station that I listen to on a nighttime as I'm going to sleep that plays a combinationo f the good pop songs (Ed Sheeran and the like) and older popular songs (stuff like the Beatles and Queen as well as some really great 00's music which is what I love). Sadly not many stations play the kinds of music I love though, which is ska and big band... and J-Pop...

However, I generally listen to the radio on the way too and from school and at night, otherwise I use my laptop or the CDs we own.

I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car. Other than that, I rely on other sources such as Spotify and YouTube for my music cravings. When listening to the radio, I like a balance between music and talks, especially those on this channel in my country called BFM 89.9 where they have interesting discussions with various professionals about psychology, health, world news, and the like. They are often very informative, and I usually learn a thing or two from these talks. As for music, I'm not picky. I listen to anything they choose to air.

Love the radio, and I use it quite a lot. In my car I will try to listen to country, but even with 4 country stations I usually can't find a good song because country has gone to crap over the past few years. So, I switch to the state news station, which has news, other random stories, and whatever. Its nice to stay informed, and some things are quite interesting. My passengers, however, generally hate it but screw them.
Also, I'm a pretty big baseball fan and I do not have anything beyond basic TV. So, I have a radio in my room that I listen to the games on most nights or afternoons. If they're playing, and there is a radio in the room, I'm listening to the game. So my radio does get quite a bit of use, a 3 hour baseball game lots of nights.

I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car, or at night at my dad's. The noise helps me sleep.

It's kinda annoying since so many songs I like aren't played on the radio haha.

I love and enjoy listening to radio in the car while driving. Some of the talk show topics can be rather interesting, as well as some of the callers they get. I used to listen to radio to help me sleep, then my most precious radio in the world broke (this was 4-5 years ago), so now I just sleep with a simple white noise.

My most listened to station currently is 101.5 KFLY. They play rock music from all decades, so it's perfect for me. Radio is obsolete in a lot of peoples' minds, but I really hope it never phases out entirely.

I mean, one could technically call YouTube a sort of online radio, right? There's just an added benefit of being able to skip songs ;)

I actually do listen to a car radio at least once a day. It's Sirius XM, but still a radio :p I tend to listen to BPM or ElecArea because I'm really into dubstep and electronic music.

I enjoyed listening to FM radio on the car on occasion, even though not as often as several years ago. I remember I used to tune in to RRI (my country's central radio) and Gress FM, I enjoyed listening to them :)

I don't listen to the radio, except when I'm in the car and alone. And then it's on NPR. If my dad is driving, then he puts it on NPR. But generally, nope.

I don't really listen to the radio unless I don't have my phone on me. Frankly, I know what I like and I'd rather play the songs I know I like rather than listening to the same songs I hate replayed over and over. I can find music on my own, but I don't need to be spoonfed music through the radio.
However, there was a time when the radio was pretty important to me. It kept me entertained in the car when I had nothing to do. It was relaxing to have because of all the lovely DJ's keeping the air waves filled with entertainment.
The radio has served its purpose for decades now, so I hope it stays around, even if I don't use it.

I use the radio whenever I'm in the car, and I have to say, it's pretty useful~
I love my local radio show hosts, they're all famous and all, and I believe one of my local radio channels has a Siruis XM station, so I can listen to his voice in the middle of a road trip!

I stopped paying for Siruis XM ages ago, so there's no point.
