Random drawing challenge

Hello, it is I, Baran, the guy who almost never makes threads. For once, I've decided to do something. I decided to challenge myself by tackling two subjects I have issues with: Pokémon, and Art. If you ever had a conversation with me, you probably know that I know almost nothing when it comes to Pokémon (I don't play the games and I don't watch the anime). So while I was doing my everyday stuff, I randomly decided to challenge myself.

The challenge is pretty simple. I draw random Pokémon (preferably those who I don't know), by only using random details about them. Those details can be anything; random facts about them, general detail of how they look, maybe a Pokédex entry or something, anything. Now, the key point is that I must not see an image of this Pokémon. This would be imposible if I were to do it alone (since I don't know much about Pokémon), so I managed to get me a friend who was willing to give me names and details (Most of you LV users know this person, but I decided to keep their name anonymous so that you may all guess who they are. Knowing that they are also a member of LV will be your only hint, good luck guessing). I gave them the option to be as vague or detailed as they please, since that's also a key point of the challenge. Now normally this kind of challenge would be boring if I knew most Pokémon, but thanks to my lack of knowledge you never know what you're gonna get. My plan is to do one Pokémon daily, and hope that this challenge will somehow improve my art skills (doubt it would).

My partner decided to go easy on me since this was the first day. They decided that I should draw a swirlix. At first, I though this was some sort of treat, but these were the details that I was supplied with:
"shaped like a cotton ball with a cat tail", "has circle eyes", "and is sticking its tongue out"

Now I'm personally disappointed how my drawing turned out. I honestly could've made it look better, and I should've added more detail. I wanted to make the lumps not look so "flat", but I lacked the skill to make it work. Hopefully I'll be able to make a better one tomorrow.

 

That was my idea at first, asking others for names and details, but a friend of mine agreed to be my "name supplier". Now it's just me and my partner in crime. If any of you guys have any tips or advice for me, I'm all ears.

 

Day # 2 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Sentret, and the details that were given to me were: "Egg body, Raccoon tail, Bunny ears, Round eyes,Upside down V for a mouth, Has a round spot on it's belly, Inside the round spot is an oval, Tiny feet, Really tiny hands, like really tiny."

Now before you see the abomination that I have drawn, I would like to say that I personally did not like how I drew it's arms. If I was a better artist, I could've made them more appealing, but alas, one of the reasons I'm doing this challenge is to probably get better at it.

Edit:After taking a look on how a real sentret looks, I've come to realize how terrible the arms came out. I'll have to step it up for the other ones.

 

Day # 3 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was azurill, and the details that were supplied to me were: "It has a circle body, very round, mouse like ears, sitting on it's tail, which is a ball, it has little feet thatre just attached to its body, round eyes, and white cheek spots."

Now here's the thing, I actually somewhat knew this Pokémon, but I wasn't sure if it was either the small one, or it's evolutions, guess I got lucky on this one. While I was drawing this, I kind of had a issue to wether or not start with it's body or the tail, but I eventually decided to start with it's tail since I was bound to draw the little guy sitting on it later. I was also not sure how big his ears were exactly, so I hope I got it right.

Edit: After taking a look at an actual picture of azurill, I've realized that the little bugger has no hands, oh well. Another thing that I got incorrect was the size of its tail, I made bigger than its body when in reality it's about the same size (Could've sworn it's tail was bigger. Oh well, comes to show how much I truly know about these damn creatures.)

 

Day # 4 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Charjabug, and the details that were supplied to me were: "If it's facing you straight on, it's a square, but it's a 3D rectangle. About 1/3 from the top of its face is a line that goes straight across. It's eyes are squares, and in the middle of the eyes, is a vertical rectangle that goes all the way down to the bottom of its face. That rectangle has a zipper pattern all the way down it. Under its eyes, it has two spikey things poking out. If you were to look at it from the side, its body is divided into three sections, and two sections have one circle in the middle and it has two legs on each side. Good luck."

Once I heard the details, I began to freak out. I haven't done any 3D drawings since art class back in middle school. I was told I could've drawn it from either its side or its front, but I wanted to add as much detail as possible. In the end, I sucked it up and decided to do a 3D drawing.

Edit: I gotta say, this was probably my best one yet. I honestly didn't have much issue with the 3D model besides the start, but once I got that out of the way, the rest was pretty easy. After taking a look at the actual Charjabug, I was surprised to see how accurate I got it. Yeah there were a few mistakes (like the legs and the circle on the side), but it's still the most accurate Pokémon I drew in a while.

 

Day # 5 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Minior, and the details that were supplied to me were: "It's a circle, with 5 points on it like a star. Swirly eyes and a little smile. It has triangles on its body, spread out. That's it."

The moment they said that was it, I nearly gave up right there and then. (To me)There was so little info to work with, and I thought the Pokémon was just a pentagram with a face. I knew gamefreak wouldn't go that far for a Pokémon, so I decided to push for some extra info. The only thing I got from them, was that it was a Flying/Rock type. That only made me more confused, who in their right mind would make a flying rock? Game freak aperently. In the end, I just decided to use the info that was given to me.

Edit: Everything was going down hill since the beginning, it started looking like a weird chocolate chip cookie, and I had no idea what I was doing. Eventually I gave up once I made the head. I started giving the damn thing rock wings and gave it the ability to levitate. In other words, I somehow created a fakemon. I decided that it would be made out of moon rocks so that it has the ability to levitate, and it uses its rock wings to ascend and descend. It's rock wings are it's main source of maneuverability, so if it looks es those, then it's pretty much screwed. Once I saw what the real Minior looked like, I was so confused at what I was seeing. It had many different forms and colors, and I just laughed at myself since there was no way I could've imagined it looking like that. Anyways, enjoy my horrifying creation.

 

Day # 6 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Lunatone, and the details that were supplied to me were: "It's a crescent moon with a pointy duck beak. It's got an eye with a black pupil, and a black circle around the eye. And to finish it off, it has moon spots."

At first, I was confused over the fact that a crescent moon had a duck bill, but at least it made more sense then a Flying/Rock type, so I sucked it up and began drawing.

Edit: Drawing the crescent moon was probably the easiest part of this whole drawing, but the moment I draw the duck bill... let's just say I was frustrated beyond belief. Eventually I figured out a grave mistake I was making with the beak. Once that was fixed, I ended up with a decent looking beak. Not wanting to continue with the beak that nearly made me give up, I added the final touches which were the moon spots, and the eye. After looking at the real thing, I realized that I might have added a little bit too much detail to the eye. But hey, I had fun with it, so that's all that mattered. All I learnt today, was that I hate drawing beaks, but at least I managed in the end.

 

I know I didn't post yesterday, but I have a pretty good reason as to why I didn't. My friend (the one supplying me with names and details) was very busy yesterday and had no time to talk to me. They were also going through rough times and I didn't wish to annoy them. They seem fine now, so to make up for the lack of mons yesterday, I'll be doing two today.

(technically) Day # 7 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Komala, and the details that were supplied to me were: "It's got a big head, with white eyebrows and cheek spots. It's holding a log that's about the size of its body. It's kind of small and has little white tail."

Just by the name alone, I knew it was supposed to resemble a koala (or at least I hoped it did). I had the idea to draw it in a "cute" sleeping position, I'm pretty sure I won't succeed in doing so though. We'll see how it turns out.

Edit: I honestly had no idea how to start this one. Since most of the Pokémon I've drawn so far have started with the head, I decided to start there. After that, I somehow managed to squeeze a lot in there. While drawing the log, I decided to give it a little face. After looking at the real thing. I was somewhat surprised to see that the actual thing sleeps a lot. Lucky me, I guess.

 

Day # 8 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Inkay, and the details that were supplied to me were: "It's a little squid. On the triangle part of inkay, it's got 4 yellow circles going across it. It's got some big ol' anime eyes and a weird circle mouth."

I was told by my friend that it somewhat resembles the inkling from splatoon, so I decided to use that as a base for this squid. Let's hope I don't go too far into the inkling territory.

Edit: Using the Inkling as a base was a great/terrible idea. Great because I have somewhat of an idea of I'm doing, but terrible cause it's looking too much like an inkling. I have failed at being creative. My only redemption was to give it a facial expression, but that won't save me from the mistake that I have made. After looking at the real inkay, I became even more dissapointed at myself. Should've thought that not all quids looked the same. Oh well, I'll try to do better next time.

 

Day # 9 of my personal challenge. Today's Pokémon was Pyukumuku, and the details that were supplied to me were: "It's an oval, kind of like a bread roll. It's got a bunny tail, and 6 spikes coming out of it's back, three on each side. It's got two round eyes and an X mouth."

Now due to how popular this one single Pokémon was for some reason, I had somewhat of idea of what I was drawing (not much though).

Edit / My process : I began drawing the oval shape, but something was off with it. Since I couldn't put my finger on it, I continued to draw. Once I finished it's face, I noticed something was wrong. At this point, fixing the thing became an entire process in itself. Eventually I made a mess of the page, so I had to start a new one by scratch. I was a little mad, but I managed to make a basic shape that didn't dissapoint me. Due to it being a little late, I was a little rushed. My family constantly calling me to stuff wasn't helping the situation either. Eventually, I finished with something I was so dissapionted with.

 

Welcome to day 10 of my daily challenge. Today, me and my partner have decided to do something special. Every 10 days, things will be a little different. Normally, I would get a name and description. But this time, I won't be reciving any of that. This time, all I got was a Pokédex entry for the Pokémon. The Pokédex entry I received was: "A Pokémon that lives on icebergs. It swims in the sea using the point on its head to break up ice."

Some of you probably already know this Pokémon just by that dex entry, but I don't do those, so I'm still clueless. Now this gave me a decent picture of an animal. I know it lives in cold areas, and that it has a point on it's head. The first thing thatcame in my head was the Pokémon ranger game. On the ice area, you needed the help on an Empoleon to swim an ice infested lake and use it's pointy head to break icebergs. Using that as the general idea, I began drawing a penguin. I wasn't planning on drawing empoleon, cause I knew I wasn't supposed to draw final evolution just yet (Not until my partner deems me worthy of drawing them).

Edit / Proccess: For once, I was forced to start with something that wasn't a head. Normally, I have an idea of how the head is supposed to look, but I couldn't just draw a normal looking penguin since I know that's not how game freak does their thing. Doing the body was surprisingly easier than I though, but once I got to it's feet I almost got stuck since I forgot how a penguins feet looks like. Once I was done with the bodies general shape, quickly had to decide on a head shape. After some internal debating with myself, I decided to go for a circular head. Once I got a (cough) decent head shape, I had to draw some details. After a few attempts I realized that a penguin with a horn didn't look good at all (if you can draw a cool looking penguin with horns, plz show me, I would honestly like to see it), so I decided to give it a crown/tiara. Why? Because I felt like it, that's why. Since the penguin looks too plain, I decided to give it a little color (it's not like you can do many colors with a normal pencil besides gray), but the center still looked empty, so I randomly decided to give it a... thing in its chest. What is it exactly? I'm not so sure myself. It could be a gem(No, I don't watch Steven universe), or it could be some frozen ice in the shape of a gem in its chest, don't ask me.
