While waiting for a response to my Platinum Nuzlocke I got bored and decided to start a new Nuzlocke with one of my favorite games, Soul Silver. This will be a randomized same strength playthrough so there shouldn't be any pitifully weak or glaringly strong Pokémon at any point of the game. Items/TMs are also randomized because Wynaut? I will try my best to provide screenshots but I wont make any promises since it can get pretty time consuming to upload a lot. That being said let's get into the rules.

    Ruleset:

    1) Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released or put in the PC permanently.

    2) The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a double battle the player may choose which of the two Pokémon they would like to catch.

    3) If the first encounter of an area is the same Pokémon or evo line of an already captured Pokémon it can be skipped for the sake of variety. To keep from grinding in an area too long I will only get 3 attempts to encounter a capturable Pokémon or I must skip the area.

    4) Static Pokémon, gifted eggs, and a single fossil can be used but will count as your encounter for the area they were received. Legends will not be used and do not count as an areas first encounter.

    5) Only one Pokémon of each type is allowed in the party at any time. This will force me to change my team around, in order to add newly captured Pokémon, and keep a balanced party even if a full team of 6 isn't achievable (Depending on the Pokémon captured).

    6) I must nickname all Pokémon for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds. I dont had a certain theme in mind for nicknames this time so if there is a Pokémon you would REALLY like named after you let me know. I will consider changing nicknames on Pokémon people request once I reach the Name Rater.

    7) If I have no Pokémon that can use a certain field move that is required to continue through any given point of the game, I may catch another Pokémon that can learn said field move. However, it cannot be used in battle for any reason, and must be released or permanently boxed as soon another Pokémon that can use said field move is captured.

    8) If a Black Out/White Out occurs it is considered game over even if there are more Pokémon in the PC.

    9) Staters are randomized so it will be my choice. Glaringly strong/weak Pokémon will not be considered.

    10) Battle style will be on Set at all times, preventing me from switching out before a Trainer can send out their next Pokémon. To make things more interesting if a party member does faint only the Pokémon to their left or right (depending on party placement) is allowed to switch in and "avenge" their fallen companion.

    11) At no point outside of battle can my Pokémon's level be higher than the next Gym Leader's highest level Pokémon, or higher than the first Elite Four member before challenging the Pokémon League. If a Pokémon is a higher level it will not be able to participate in the battle.

    12) No healing items can be used in battle. Outside of battle I can use as many healing items as possible, other than revives of course, and only 2 visits per Pokémon Center/healing area.

Now let's jump right into the game!

    • Chose the girl character because I like the hat and named her Rhoa. Went through all the intro text and got to my starter choices.

Tentacruel - Good Pokémon overall but has a horrendous early to mid game movepool and relies on TM's for coverage.

Geodude - Decent Pokémon with good offensive attacks and a solid physical defense but glaring weaknesses and no special defense.

Smoochum - Not a big fan but has decent enough offense/movepool but terrible defenses and typing...plus it is a baby Pokémon which makes it so hard to keep alive.

    • Ended up going with Tentacruel just because it is a very solid Pokémon overall and can take a few hits if needed. Turns out it is a Timid female with Liquid Ooze and I named her Aurelia (name of a species of jellyfish). Gotta admit it is kinda funny seeing a giant hovering jellyfish follow me around xP

    • Began traveling down Route 29 encountering a couple Wingull and a Ratatta along the way as well as picking up a Timer Ball (would have rather had the normal Potion at this point haha). Unfortunately the only moves I have to work with until lvl 12 are Poison Sting, Supersonic, and Constrict.
    • Ended up having to come back and heal once at Elm's Lab before even making it all the way through the route.
    • Made it to Cherrygrove and got my Running Shoes and Map Card from Guide Gent.
    • Battled several different Pokémon including Wurmple, Caterpie, Ledyba, Hoppip, Cherubi, Kakuna, and Ralts as I made my way up Route 30....none of which I particularly want tho Ralts wouldn't be a bad pick up. Grabbed my Apricorn Box, a Power Bracer, and a Quick Ball. Trained Aurelia until she ran out of PP and hit lvl 8 before visiting Mr Pokémon.
    • Listened to both him and Professor Oak ramble on before getting my Pokédex along with the Mystery Egg and heading back outside to the frenzied phone call from Professor Elm.
    • Hurried back to Cherrygrove and encountered a young red headed trainer with a serious attitude problem. The banter ended and the battle began with Aurelia going up against his Bonsly...what I wouldn't give for a water atk right now.
    • I just have Aurelia spam Poison Sting until she gets a poison status (took 5 hits) on the baby rock tree thing. The Bonsly landed 2 Flails, a Fake Tears, and 2 Copycat Poison Stings in the meantime. Aurelia was still sitting fine at 23 HP but I knew those Flails would start to get much worse so now it was time for Supersonic. Landed it first try and the Bonsly hit itself in confusion...off to a good start! Used Constrict while Bonsly broke through confusion and used Copycat. Went for Constrict again which brought Bonsly into red after all the Poison dmg when it broke through confusion again and used Flail. Aurelia survived at 10 HP and one more Constrict finished off the baby rock Pokémon. The trainer ran off but not before I caught a glimpse of his trainer card.
    • Made my way back to Elm where a police officer was asking him questions. He asked me the boys name which I told him was Legacy, named after an old friend. The officer then left as I gave Elm the Mystery Egg. I then go and tell my mom I'm heading out and Ethan shows me how to catch a Pokémon...like I don't already know.
    • Now the fun really starts! First encounter on Route 29 is......a male Makuhita! I accidently used my Timer Ball but captured the Brave (OMG YES) Guts Makuhita and named him Marshal. He was holding an Ultra Ball so that helped make up for my blunder.
    • Used up my final healing at Elm's before switch training Marshal a bit on the way to Route 46. First encounter in the area is a Mild female Wynaut. Captured and named her Daal, which means Return in Dovah (yes I'm an Elder Scrolls nerd).
    • Did some leveling up before heading back to Cherrygrove.
That's all I have for the time being but will hopefully have another post up tonight...plus I will edit in my current team and a few screenshots ^^

Thanks! @ChocoChicken I really enjoy HGSS so let's hope this play through is good to me xP

Baby has a cold so she hasn't been sleeping or feeling as good as normal so I'm a little behind getting my next update posted. Let's get right into it shall we?

    • Once I returned to Cherrygrove I went ahead and bought 10 Pokeballs, got a free Premier Ball, and used the rest on my cash on Potions and 4 Antidotes.
    • Before healing I grabbed my encounter for Route 30 which was a Quiet male Hoppip that I named Beau.
    • Grabbed another encounter on Route 31 in a Naughty male Exeggcute named Palmer.
    • The encounters keep coming with a Naughty female Shuppet named Maria in Dark Cave and a Jolly male Swinub named Jauffre on Route 32.
    • With quite a few new Pokémon I did some leveling. Ended up using my last heal in Cherrygrove before heading into Sprout Tower.
    • Had a few close calls but luckily no casualties yet! Picked up a Quick Claw, Persim Berry a Power Belt, and managed to beat the Elder who gave me TM70 for Flash.... But it wasn't Flash. I got Icicle Spear instead :D both Jauffre and Marshall can learn it so I'm a little torn.. Jauffre needs a solid STAB move and Marshall needs the coverage. Who do you guys think I should teach it to??
    • Before leaving the tower I ran into a Bashful female Slugma which I captured and named Scoria.
    • Healed up my weakened team before heading straight for the gym to challenge Falkner.
    • I couldn't remember the exact lvls of Falkner's team but when I looked it up it showed lvl 13 was his ace Pidgeotto. I should have known something was up tho when the first gym trainer had a lvl 14. Ended up just going for it and I seriously lucked out.
    • I led with my lvl 11 Aurelia as Falkner used a lvl 14 Budew. Luckily with Liquid Ooze and Supersonic Budew wasn't able to keep recovering its HP and eventually was taken out leaving Aurelia at 50% with 19HP.
    • Next was a lvl 20 Eevee... So thankful for Maria here as she was immune to Tackle. She was able to drop the over leveled Eevee's defence to -6 with Screech before Marshal finished it off with a single Vital Throw earning us the Zephyr Badge and a useless TM in Heal Block.
All I have for now but should have something else posted in another day or two.... Also be sure to let me know if anyone would like a Pokémon named after them and I'll do my best to accommodate! ^^

Let's pick up where we left off shall we? :)
    • With my Zephyr Badge acquired I go and grab the HM for Rock Smash, after picking up the Mystery Egg which I boxed for the time being, and teach it to Marshal since he is the only one in my party that can learn it. I then go to the Ruins of Alph to pick up the few items located there.
    • Items were a Heat Rock, Iron Ball, Hyper Potion, and a Soda Pop. I also went ahead and grabbed the item back in Violet which turned out to be another Heat Rock -_- I did manage to find a Max Ether in the rubble tho so not all was bad.
    • Kept running back and forth the the ruins smashing boulders in hopes of grabbing a shard I could trade for some berries but I found something epic instead..... A Relaxed female Dratini <3 was a struggle and nearly used all of my Pokéball's but I eventually captured and named her Monah (Mother in Dovah since Dratini line is the OG dragons of Pokémon). To top things off she was hold the TM for Shock Wave!
    • Added Monah to my party over Scoria and headed down the rest of Route 32 saving a Violet City heal for potentially later in the game.
    • Beat most of the trainers along the route without much issue but one Fisherman really gave me a heart attack with a lvl 23 Ralts.. Luckily I was able to set up Leech Seed on it with Palmer, who survived back to back Magical Leafs with 1HP, and Monah paraflinched it to death along with some Wrap residual dmg. Close call for sure tho since it kept setting up Calm Minds ;_;
    • Grabbed an Antidote, Max Elixir, Shoal Shell, Luck Incense (which will help a TON since I have limited healing) and the TM for Peck lol Marshal and Palmer are the only one that can learn it so I taught it to Palmer since it is better than Barrage and Marshal doesn't really need it... Especially if I end up teaching him Icicle Spear (still waiting to hear from anyone reading if they think it would be better for Jauffre or Marshal).
    • After making it to the end of the route I popped my head into Union Cave long enough to grab my encounter which ended up being a Brave male Meditite that I named Brawly because I couldn't think of anything better >.>
    [IMG]
    • Decided to grind up a little bit before continuing on and using up one of my healings at the Pokémon Center outside of Union Cave.
Not much progress in this update I know but at least I'm posting pretty regular so far ^^ hope anyone reading this is enjoying and please feel free to leave some comments or suggests. Helps so much just to see some take interest in the nuzlocke to keep me focused on it.

This is what I get for bragging about keeping this updated regularly -_- some things have come up forcing me to not have as much free time as I would like to play but I have made a little bit of progress so hopefully it will be enough to keep interest ^^

    • First things first I thought my Nuzlocke was over in Union Cave due to a trainers lvl 17 Dragon Raging Charmander.... It is only by a pure miracle that I not only survived but didn't lose a single Pokémon thanks to Aurelia having JUST enough HP to survive the initial Dragon Rage, landing Supersonic on the first try, and landing a crit Acid while Charmander hit itself in confusion twice. PURE LUCK.
    • With my heart beating out of my chest at this point I went ahead and beat the remaining trainers in Union Cave before using my final heal at the PC outside the cave. Also picked up some pretty men items including a Safari Ball, X Defend, Persim Berry, Awakening, Repeat Ball, and the TM for Rock Throw.
    • Grabbed my Route 33 encounter which was a male Impish Nincada that I named ninJAS because I could xP
    • Went to see Kurt who ran off to the Slowpoke Well. I followed after and once I finished off a few Rocket Grunts I encountered a male Duskull that I named Brendon <3 turns out he was a Careful nature, which I can more than live with.
    • Beat Proton without much issue and followed Kurt out of the well to his house where he gave me a Quick Ball and agreed to make Pokeballs for me.
    • Since my party was still pretty healthy I decided to go ahead and take on Legacy before heading for the gym... I don't know what kind of option I hit in the randomizer to jack up these levels but I can already see this will be the reason I fail this Nuzlocke >.>
    • He led with a lvl 21 Numel against my lvl 15 Monah. She took him down with 2 Dragon Rages but took some serious dmg from a Magnitude 7.
    • Next up? His ace a lvl 27 Minun.... I know its only a Minun but freaking lvl 27?! Luckily Jauffre was able to hold his own with a combination of Mud Slap and Icy Wind.
    • Last up was a lvl 24 Nincada which Jauffre was also able to take out by spamming Icy Wind.
    • After seeing those lvls it made me really dread heading into Bugsys gym. Healed up once, mainly to recover PP, before diving head first in the gym.
    • Surprisingly enough there were several Bug types showing up but nothing that really caused any alarm as their lvls were much more manageable.
    • Bugsy on the other hand not so much... He led with a lvl 26 Stantler as his ace as I was forced to immediately pull Aurelia out and bring Maria in on a Take Down.
    • Bugsy then withdraws Stantler as Maria goes for Screech on his incoming Ralts.
    • I bring Palmer in on a Magical Leaf and set up a Leech Seed before getting greedy and bringing Aurelia in to set up 2 layers of Toxic Spikes. She soaks up the 2 Magical Leafs and a Lucky Chant like a champ thanks to the added recovery of Leech Seed before finally dropping the Ralts with Acid.
    • In comes a Tyrouge who does nothing but use Foresight while I bring in Monah to wipe it out with Dragon Rage.
    • Stantler hits the field again and I have an easy switch in to Maria since Stantler has no move that can dmg her. Toxic slowly takes its toll on the deer before it drops earning me my 2nd gem badge and the TM for Flamethrower!!! But no one in my party can learn it ;_;
    • Ran and grabbed my Ilex Forest encounter, a Quiet male Ralts that I named Taylor, before using up my final heal at the PC.
That's all I have now and I'll post some screenshots soon as well as updating my team info.... Or I might just wait until next post since I did change my party up slightly :) sorry again for taking a whole week to post an update...
