Most of my friends listen to rap, and a lot of people I know do as well. Rap can carry a level of lyrical complexity that may not be available in other types of music, given the sort of "free" feeling that can feel almost exclusive to rap (although rap isn't always "free" and other genres aren't always rhythmic).

Do you listen to rap? Why? What stands out to you about it? Who is your favorite rap artist? What is your favorite rap song?

I don't listen to rap too much, but when I do, I don't listen to any rap in particular, I just kind of find something. If I had to choose a rapper, I'd have to go with a slightly generic choice in Eminem. "Lose Yourself" is actually one of my favorite songs, and I like a lot of his other music. Then again, "Mom's Spaghetti" is a classic, so I guess I shouldn't forget to mention that legend of a piece.

I listen to rap often simply because I find it fun to listen to. The lyrics are often very interesting to read too.

My favorite rap artists are Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Drake, and Tyler. Tho I do listen to a couple of others too.

It's not my favorite genre but it's definitely one I enjoy. A lot of rap gets a bad reputation, but it's some really good music actually. I like Eminem, Fort Minor, Akon, Lupe Fiasco and some others. My favorite rap songs are "The Show Goes On," "Lonely," "Hands Held High," and "Welome." By Lupe Fiasco, Akon, Linkin Park, and Fort Minor respectively. Rap can be pretty catchy and since I'm not too picky on music types, I really enjoy some good rap.

Rap is one of the genres I listen to the most (the other being Rock). When I first started listening to music, I started off with both Rock and Rap/Hip-Hop and have stuck with both ever since.
Rap is an interesting genre, to say the least. A lot of it does get a bad reputation, and I can completely understand why, considering some of the top hit songs from the past year or so. A lot of those songs are pretty garbage. Yeah, you can bump to them, but when you can't really understand the lyrics or the lyrics either make no sense/keep saying the same thing (money, girls, etc.), then you can't really consider that a good song.
There are so many good rappers out there who are fucking amazing at what they do and so original with their craft. Rap can be breathtaking if you listen to the right artists. A few key examples would be:
    • Kendrick Lamar
    • J. Cole
    • Chance the Rapper
    • Kid Cudi
    • Eminem
    • Logic
    • Hopsin
    • Kanye West
And so on. Each of them are phenomenal in their own way and are, in my opinion, some of the best rap artists currently around.
Some of those artists can be pretty damn clever with their rhymes too. I've had moments where I've listened to songs for months on end but only noticed a certain reference or play-on-words after a various amount of weeks of originally finding the song.
Seriously, if you're looking for a good rapper to listen to, just listen to any of those from that list and I promise you'll find a few songs you enjoy by them.

As for rappers that I listen to, I'll make a list of them in this spoiler below. The top 5 are my favorites (not in order), the rest are just others I listen to:
    • Kendrick Lamar
    • J. Cole
    • Chance the Rapper
    • Kid Cudi
    • Logic
    • Hopsin
    • Drake
    • Kanye West
    • Ab-Soul
    • Childish Gambino
    • Dizzy Wright
    • Eminem
    • Snoop Dogg
    • Dr. Dre
    • G-Eazy
    • Hoodie Allen
    • Isaiah Rashad
    • Jay Rock
    • Jay Z
    • Jeezy
    • Lupe Fiasco
    • Mick Jenkins
    • Outkast
    • Schoolboy Q
    • Skizzy Mars
    • Wiz Khalifa
    • A$AP Rocky
    • A$AP Ferg
    • Mike Shinoda (in both Linkin Park and Fort Minor, even though Linkin Park is Nu-Metal)
    And a few others.

The only rap I listen to these days, is anything by Psychopathic Records.
    That being

    - Insane Clown Posse
    - Twizted (former) now majik ninja entertainment *
    - Boondox
    - Anybody Killa
    - Axe Murder Boyz
    - Blaze ya dead homie *
    - Dark Lotus (sub unit) with twiztid, icp and blaze

some have left the label to date*

horrorcore rap is pretty chill and totally up my alley.
It's frowned upon by mainstream populace.
But that just makes it even better!

id say a solid 90% of the music i listen to is rap nowadays. i grew up with it so it's always really stuck with me. i really love the culture that surrounds it and it's such a great outlet for me to feel feelings, wether it be more anger-centered or conscious-poetic. rap is amazing fam

The Arab Rap Sensation, Group X.

The Youtube video versions of the songs come with amusing ten year old flash animations. Yay!
