Here I will be discussing the basics of what they are, how to collect the, and what Pokémon are available for each type. Above is a downloadable version for everyone who wants a copy and below is a full list of Pokémon. Now without further ado, let's get down to business shall we? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++Q&A:The finer details++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Q: What is a bank ball Pokémon? A: A bank ball Pokémon is a Pokémon caught in a non standard Pokéball that can only be obtained in previous generations that has to pass through bank to be obtained. Examples are safari balls, apricorn balls, dream balls, and sports balls. Q: What are rare ball Pokémon? A: Rare ball Pokémon are Pokémon caught in standard or store baught balls other than pokeballs that are not obtainable in the current generation (Gen 6 at the time this guide was written). Examples are luxury ball snorlax, dive ball totodile, and repeat ball burmy. These Pokémon usually require some sort of "gimmick" to obatain like Pokémon colloseum, the now defunct dream world, and the hidden hollows in Pokémon black 2 and white 2. Q: Why are they valuable? A: Many people value these Pokémon because the balls match or look asthetically pleasing when paired with the desired Pokémon. An example is dive ball totodile, because the ball matches the type and color of the Pokémon. Because these Pokémon either have to be bred from existing Pokémon or caught in previous games and transfered up people tend to put more value on them. Q: What else can make bank and rare ball Pokémon valuable? A: Gender ratio, hidden ability, being shiny, and sometime being humurous. For example I saw a lot of demand at one point for dive ball cyndaquil because some people thought it was hillarious. Q: Why would I want these Pokémon? A: Some are just plain rare and hard to get like the johto starters in non pokeballs. You have to beat the game before you could catch all of them, transfer some balls from a gen 3 game, catch the Pokémon then trade it to a gen 3 game, and then finally transfer it up. It is alot of work but if you have one that looks really cool, imagine what fun it could be using it in battle against your friends? Imagine how these could make great gifts to friends. And often times collecting them is just plain fun! Q: How do bank and rare balls work? A: First and foremost, you have to consider breeding. Only female Pokémon can pass down the balls they are in, meaining that you need a female if you want to get more of them. Second, only Pokémon from gens 1-4 can be in bank balls while rare balls are limited to Pokémon who are only available to transfer to gen 6 and can't be caught with ha in gen 6. While some Pokémon can be caught in gen 6 without their hidden abilities the transfered hidden ability Pokémon are the actuall rare ball Pokémon in that case. Third, while male and genderless Pokémon can be bank ball Pokémon, these Pokémon's demand vary from person to person due to the fact that you can't usually get good stats on them without rng'ing and they can't pass down their balls. Q: How do you catch these Pokémon? A: Apricorn and sport ball Pokémon are caught in heart gold and soul silver. If you catch every possible Pokémon in every apricorn ball you're looking at about roughly 950 Pokémon total. Sport balls are restricted to bug types so there are under 20 possible. Safari ball are trickier because the full compliment of Pokémon lies within fire red and leaf green; ruby, sapphire, and emerald; heart gold and soul silver; and diamond, pearl, and platinum. You will need several games to catch these yourself and the safari zone can be quite a pain in the keester so be advised if you attempt this like I did. Dream balls are available through the dream radar only now because the dream world shut down in January of 2014. The only way to get any dream world Pokémon is if there are Pokémon still left in your entree forest. However, the bank ball community is pretty big so you could always get these in trades in gen 6 if you know where to look and can meet the other person's fancy. Q: What do people typically trade for these? A: It depends on the Pokémon, whether or not its has its hidden ability, and what the gender ratio is. For an apricorn ball Pokémon: A lure ball snorlax is a worth about 3 or 4 Pokémon with a gender ratio of 1:1 or 50% female while say a level ball pidgey goes for just 1. A luxury ball ha snorlax would be worth 3 or 4 ha Pokémon with a gender rate of 1:1 or 50% chance of being female. How many non ha Pokémon would it take to make the value of an ha? generally this varies but usually its 2 Pokémon with a 1:1 ratio to one ha Pokémon with a 1:1 ratio. For something like ha snorlax it could take 6-8 depending on what the other person is offering or looking for. Some people are nice while others place different values on different Pokémon. Q: How difficult is it to breed? A: This is a tough one to answer. If you're just going for female or female with its hidden ability and aren't worried about nature, IVs, egg moves, and hidden power; it's actually pretty easy for the most part. Once you through those into the mix it can take some time and alot of bank ball breeding is pure raw luck. Some times I go to get one female bred and end up with 4 within 10 minutes while other days I breed for 2 hours and still can't get a female. My tip is to be patient. Q: How easy is it to start a collection? A: It's really easy considering how many of these buggars are already floating around. You can go for them all like me or just collect the ones you really like. It's never too late to start and it's always a great way to spice up battles. The experience can be tailored to you.
