Like many people, I like to challenge myself by coming up with teams that focus solely on one type of Pokémon. Being a defensive player rather than an offensive player (in most cases), there are certain types that really challenge my thinking. I'm stuck on the Bug-type right now.

    My Team Set-Up
    Spiker - Physical Sweeper - Special Sweeper - Special Tank - Drainer/Annoyer - Cleric

So as you can see, I have a very specific way of picking my teams. My Spiker is always physically defensive, and my Drainer and Cleric must always be of opposite defensive specialty (ie, if one is physical, the other is special). The sweepers are more like stall-breakers so that I never get into any stall wars that I can't get out of.

So, without further ado, here is my Bug-type team as of yet!
    Spikes - Stealth Rock - Stone Edge - X-Scissor
    Impish Nature - Red Card
    252 HP, 4 Atk, 252 Def
His purpose is to be my spiker. One would normally jump for Forretress, but this is more original!

    U-Turn ~ Iron Head ~ Pursuit ~ Superpower
Adamant Nature - Choice Scarf - Technician
    4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spd
He is my physically offensive wall breaker.

Bug Buzz ~ Air Slash ~ Giga Drain ~ AncientPower
Modest Nature - Choice Specs - Speed Boost
    4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spd
    Specially offensive wall breaker.

Protect ~ Light Screen ~ Roost ~ Toxic
Calm Nature - Leftovers - Early Bird
    252 HP, 252 SpD, 4 Spd
As with every team I make, I have an odd ball with Ledian. What people don't realize is that it actually has the second highest SpD of all Bug-types, only losing to Shuckle, which has terrible HP so I refuse to use it. What I really dislike is only that it has a bad ability.

Substitute ~ Leech Seed ~ Protect ~ Giga Drain
Bold Nature - Big Root - Effect Spore
    252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpA
Some would call Parasect an odd choice as well, but I love it on my rain team, where it makes a wonderful Cleric. This is the only Bug-type capable of subseeding, so I'm trying her out as a subseeder to see how it goes.

Heal Bell ~ Perish Song ~ Protect ~ Bug Bite
Careful Nature ~ Leftovers ~ Technician
    252 HP, 4 Atk, 252 SpD
The runt of the team should now be very obvious. If you though Ledian and Parasect were the worst choices, I think you take it back now. This guy is the only Bug with Heal Bell.

So that's my Bug-type team! Tell me whatcha think! I'm looking for any constructive criticism ^_^ My goal is to make a defensive/annoying team with every type of Pokémon, so using a different set-up altogether is not an option for me, locking Kricketune and Parasect into place as unchangeable. Everything else I am open to replacing, so be as blunt as possible ^_^

see, I'm a particular fan of shuckle, my favorite moveset for the little guy is toxic, recover, protect, and wrap...it works wonders in double battles. But you have a very well balanced team

    Hi there~
Bug type mono's are pretty interesting if you ask me and they can be a challenge to pull off (never ran one myself).

Anywho, your team would really appreciate a spinner since the majority of your Pokes are weak vs Stealth Rock and only one of them (Ledian) has Roost (but even that would not appreciate taking 50% of damage even time you switch it in. To me, Ledian seems quite dead weight to your team so replacing it with Forretress would be a better choice as Forry can spin away those hazards and grant a safe switch in to your Bugs. Not to mention Forry is just as bulky and can tank almost every attack.
    Forretress @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sturdy
    EVs: 252hp/4def/252def
    Sassy Nature (+Sp. Def, -Spe)
    -Volt Switch
    -Rapid Spin
    -Toxic
    -Gyro Ball

Scizor should run Bullet Punch over Iron Head because it's almost guaranteed Scizor's going to strike first and thanks to Technician, it will be boosted to 60 (yeah it's weaker but even with the scarf, Scizor's still pretty slow) and also a Choice Band seems like the way too go as it will help boost it's moves a bit more (and even make Bullet Punch more powerful than Iron Head).

For Yanmega, run Hidden Power [Ground] over Ancientpower. That problem with Ancientpower is that Base 60 power with a mere 10% chance to boost all stats seems underwhelming whereas HP is a bit stronger and gives almost the same coverage.

Parasect would appreciate Dry Skin over Effect Spore as a switch in to an incoming Water type move is nice for healing it up.

Now Kricketune, I do understand Heal Ball is a good move and you want to keep the Pokémon but the problem with Kricketune is that its defenses are subpar and it's speed is not that great either to utilize it to its potential and to be honest your team doesn't really need to heal it's status conditions that badly. I think that Heracross is a better teammate over it as it is neutral vs Rocks and it will give you Fighting coverage to boot:
    Heracross @ Life Orb/Expert Belt
    Trait: Guts/Moxie
    EVs: 4hp/252atk/252spe
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp. Atk)
    -Megahorn
    -Close Combat
    -Stone Edge
    -Swords Dance

Hope this helps and good luck!

Nice attempt at making a team with bug types! They are really hard to come across. Now unto more pressing matters, I'm going to separate this into three sections; support, moveset, and recommended changes. Your team needs major support, one glaring issue I see is the obvious weakness you have towards Stealth Rock. For this issue is easily solved with a swap of Crustle over Forrestress. Forrestress provides you with a Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock, Spikes, filler. Now depending on how you would like your Forrestress set up, you can add Volt-Switch for that added scout on your team. The next thing your team could use would be a swap the item for Parasect for a Leftovers, since Big Root is inferior to Leftovers and is unnecessary since your going to use Parasect as a 'rain' tank. Parasect could easily abuse the sub-seed set with its ability Dry-Skin. Your next problem is your obvious weakness towards fire, but this can be handled with a quick change from Ledian to Volcarona. Essentially what you'll be doing with Volcarona is giving it a bulky set in which it can survive; a 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 Spe evs spread should do the trick with moves like Quiver Dance, Bug Buzz, Fiery Dance, and Roost. With these changes you should be able to stand stronger, I hoped this rate helped! :DBWith thug Buzzthe item for Parasect The next For

I'll take you up on Forretress over Crustle, the Rock really did hurt the team. I'm keeping Ledian though, because it's actually a really great pivot for my team when I use it on PO (which is where I'll probably use it mostly until I perfect it). It also has Toxic, which is really necessary on this type of team.

This type of team for me is really fast-paced, and I always end up switching out at least every 2 or 3 turns due to the defensive/confusing aspect of it, so set-up sweepers like Volcarona really aren't useful, given that I will likely never have time to set up. I think I'm gonna use Volcarona over Yanmega though just for the different typing, different coverage, etc, I just can't use Quiver Dance. That's alright though with a choice item my usual set works well enough to do it's job.

Heracross I'm gonna have to pass on, I don't need more sweepers than I already have. I'd be willing to exchange Scizor for Heracross, which would actually make sense since I need more varying types, but maybe.. I'll try both on PO.

I actually chose Effect Spore instead of Dry Skin on purpose because Dry Skin amplifies its Fire-type weakness and makes it lose HP in the Sun, which defeats the purpose of a defensive Pokémon.
