Reaction to first Shiny Pokemon?

My first shiny, sadly, was Magikarp I got in Sapphire. So even if he became a Gyarados, nobody would really believe me of it being a legitimate shiny. Anyways, I knew what shinies were at the time and I was super stoked. I was trying to find a Feebas and I randomly pulled out a shiny Magikarp. I did catch him, and I still have him on a lost Sapphire cartridge somewhere.

 

My first shiny Pokémon that I noticed was a shiny Psyduck. My reaction to it was pretty neutral as I wasn't aware of the existence of shinies back then, although I was puzzled as to why it was blue and sparkly. I caught it anyways, boxed it like any normal Pokémon, and then forgot all about it and restarted my game. After a long while later, I finally realised that I had caught a shiny Pokémon and facepalmed myself.

 

My first shiny was a ralts, hatched on gen4 so that I could train it with boosted experience on gen5. My initial reaction was a reaction of nothing... I didn't realize it actually was shiny until maybe 5 minutes later. Then I was pretty pumped because I love gardevoirs to death and now I had a shiny one. Everyone else who was with me was excited for me, yet rather jealous as we had ironically spent the day "shiny hunting"- running around in the grass trying to get as many encounters in as possible.

 

My first shiny was a spinarak in emerald and I had no idea what they were at the time. All I knew was that for some reason this spinarak was a different color on my game, I honestly thought it was a glitch but i knew i wanted to show off an awesome thing to my friend. Now anyone who knows emerald well would know that spinarak is only available in the extended safari zone. Yeah...i didn't kill it, i didn't run, and i didn't run out of pokeballs....if freaking fled! I later discovered that it was called a "shiny" and was so upset that I hadn't caught this supposedly rare Pokémon that i spent hours killing spiders that I found outside. Many spider lives were lost in that time

 

First of all,

I just assumed it had pink ears the whole time. I never noticed that both Meowth and Persian have tan ears.
Anyway, my first shiny that I can remember was a Zubat I found in Oreburgh Mine in my old Pearl.
Now, I know Zubat is typically a Pokémon that everyone hates, but I kinda liked the whole line, and finding this as my first shiny just took the cake.
Sadly, I was doing a MONOTYPE RUN in Pearl (chosen type was Steel), but I still caught it and boxed it.
Then I decided to restart my HeartGold and, choosing Chikorita, I found I would eventually have trouble with Bugsy, since I had already planned to give myself a Volt Tackle Pichu (long story, not gonna bore you with the details)
So I decided to use that same Zubat in my HeartGold, and boy was it worth it!
Since the Zubat was a girl, I was both surprised and pleased to evolve my Golbat and find that shiny Crobat are a beautiful pastel pink.
Sadly, I both restarted the save file and sold my copy of HeartGold, but she still lives on in my old Wii, where I transfered to my Pokémon Battle Revolution save file.
But I PBR that a few weeks ago, and I'm just now realising I lost my first shiny.
No matter, I've got one in my ORAS anyway.

As for the first shiny I worked to get, it would have to be my shiny Whimsicott, Kellie.
It was just before VGC this year, and I was preparing the parents of a 6IV Cottonee I was going to attempt to hatch as a shiny using the Masuda Method.
As I was breeding, I hatched the 7th egg, and something felt... different. At the time of hatching, I didn't even notice, since shiny Cottonee is orange, and the breeding screen is orange, I just thought my eyes had already become sick of the sight of Cottonee.
It was when I went to check the IVs of the egg that I found this specific Cottonee had 6IVs. I was quite glad, since it was female and I could use it as a parent, so I went to mark it.
And that's when I saw the red star.
And I started to have a panic attack, because things like that never EVER happen to me!
Now Kellie is fully trained, and she frequently appears in battles against friends, because it's nice to show off something I worked(?) for that looks good and kicks ass.
She's also why I adopted one, as you can see if you pull down my spoilers tab below.

 

I've been playing Pokémon since Gen I, and when I saw my sister encounter a shiny for the first time in Silver, I was like "oh, cool, it's Ash's Noctowl!". Yes, her first shiny just so happened to be a Noctowl, which Ash had in the anime at the time. I didn't see it as a shiny, but rather just as "Ash's Noctowl". The same could be said about he Red Gyarados. As time went on, I found out that my older cousin caught a shiny Phanpy. I gradually started to come to the conclusion that "Oh, you must be able to catch any Pokémon of any color! This is cool!" My much older cousin didn't tell me this right at first. One day though, he told me about shiny Pokémon, and that there's only one alternative color for each Mon. I was still excited by this "news" though. I tried so hard day in, and day out to find a shiny, but to no avail. I tried in numerous files, in all three Gen II games (Gold, Silver, and Crystal).
When Gen III arrived on the scene, that it when I took my rather long hiatus from Pokémon, and didn't come back to the series until 2009 when I purchased Platinum. I had no luck with shinies in that game either. It wasn't until the remakes of Gold and Silver... HeartGold and SoulSilver, until I finally encountered my first ever shiny, which was a Stantler (HeartGold) right below Ecruteak. It was so perfect. Everything came full circle. I felt like all my blood, sweat, and tears into finding a shiny in the original games all paid off in the remakes. It happened when I was least expecting it, too. I had planned to use a Stantler on my team, and the first Stantler I ran into, was a normal one who I caught. After catching it, it was only three steps later that I ran into another Stantler; this time Shiny! I couldn't believe it! I waited years for this moment to finally occur! I took no chances of battling it, and threw a Premier Ball right at it, full health, no status conditions, and it was a success! My first legitimate shiny was at last rightfully mine! He did me proud too. He was a great mixed attacker.

Ever since that Stantler, I've had pretty moderate-good luck with finding and hatching shiny Pokémon without the use of MM, Shiny Charm, chaining etc. In the same HeartGold file, I found myself a shiny Machoke in Rock Tunnel. I was doubly shocked. All my shiny Pokémon were green back then, but I didn't care! I felt too accomplished to give a Rattata's arse.

 

I've had 2 shiey encounters in my long life, thy went a bit like this.

My first shiny encounter was with a shiny Zigzagoon. Unfortunately it was the second mob I encountered since game start in Emerald, and I couldn't buy balls yet.

Next shiny was a Venipede in a ROM hack called Light Platinum. It didn't have an appropriate shiny sprite in the game though, but I saw its sparkle and knew it was shiny. I caught it but it didn't seem any different from a normal Venipede.

My first legit catch in the main games was a shiny Magikarp. Being a Magikarp fanatic, I didn't evolve him. The proud little guy grew up to sweep the Elite Four by himself.

 

My first one you'd think was more noticeable. I was playing Sapphire outside at the time (these things stick with you), so the sun glare was in my way and I didn't catch the stark difference in color for that Pokémon. So I didn't even notice until I was back inside and I looked at it in my party later that afternoon.

Then the shock really sank in. I flipped out and was excited for days and bragging at school. I mean really, a shiny Rayquaza is no small deal.

'Course, having started with Crystal, I knew about shinnies due to the Red Gryados that dwelt in the Lake of Rage. But the first legit shiny I saw in the wild occurred on Route 39 in Crystal, where I came across a shiny Pidgeotto. 'Course, I never managed to catch it though. Meh.

 

When I saw my first shiny, Shiny Meowth back in Silver before I even knew what a shiny was, I was confused. I thought it was a glitch. Of course, I had to catch it. After I caught the shiny Meowth, I looked it up and saw that Shiny Pokémon were very hard to get with the exception of Gyarados back in the day. I was very happy that I caught it instead of knocking it out.

 

My first shiny that I got was a Zubat, from a certain hack called Shining Opal, which caught me by surprise, despite of being alert of Shiny Pokémon after seeing Ash's Noctowl and Red Gyarados. So I decided to catch it straight away because that's not something that I see everyday.

Next, when I saw the shiny Wurmple in Emerald (which is my first legit catch, not including Red Gyarados and all), was like "Oh my, I didn't see it coming." Again, I managed to catch it successfully and it is now a fully grown Dustox.

It's funny that both of the shiny encounters are there when I least expect it.

 

My first shiny was either the Bidoof or the Staravia. I don't remember which one I caught first XD
Shiny Bidoof and Shiny Staravia were both brown (Bidoof was light brown, Staravia had the color of poop), and I thought: "hey, sparkly. I don't know what's wrong with them, but I want them".
I caught one of them in my first game, Diamond. I don't know where I got the other.

Btw, my brother caught a shiny Pachirisu after the first gym. At the Valley Windworks, he found a shiny Pachirisu. I was sitting right next to him and screamed 'OMG, CATCH IT AND GIVE IT TO ME! THAT ONE'S SUPER RARE!' He just looked at me like "what are you talking about, it's just a Pachirisu', but he caught it anyway. The lucky bastard.
So now I have three legal shinies. All other shinies I have are illegal, unfortunately

 

My first shiny was a shiny Swadloon. I knew what shinies were, but they never really crossed my mind ever, and I didn't really care. However, as soon as the swadloon popped up, I gasped. I immediately caught it with the Gothorita I conveniently had on the team at the time, and was happy. I showed my father, and he told me to save right away, so I did. I was so happy! It was my first ever shiny!

For the next shiny, a shiny Shelmet, er... I don't really remember. Probably the same reaction the Swadloon gave me? I don't know. xP

 

Let's not talk about the magical Gyrados, but I managed to encounter a Butterfree, or something of that evolution once. I screamed, didn't know what was going on. It was shiny, and I remember accidentally killing it.
I later found out about shinies, and now due to GTS, I have a shiny butterfree.

 

My first shiny - minus the Red Gyarados - was a Zigzagoon in Emerald. I was just training up my torchic when I noticed the Zigzagoon crawling onto the screen was a bit more orange than usual before it's shadow disappeared and bam! ORANGE AND SPARKLES! I had to catch it and I kept glancing at it in disbelief because what were the chance of a shiny Pokémon in the very beginning of the game?!

So I catch her, nicknamed her and made her my second in command. She was my second all the way to the Elite 4 and I thought that by finishing that I'd get the chance to get the national dex but the worst thing happened. The save file deleted itself. I was heartbroken because Linoone was gone... I think she was the first Pokémon I had a stronger emotional attachment to.

 

My first was Graveler as well.
Except I caught her.
I was like "Oh, it's a different color." *catch*
Then I lost my copy of Pearl.

 

Not gonna include Gyarados. I can't remember what my first one was, though. I think it was a Pineco or Electrike in Pokémon Emerald. I'm leaning towards Pineco since I remember that more.

My friends and I were playing Pokémon Emerald one time during class (that was bad, I know). I was in the Safari Zone and I suddenly encountered a shiny Pineco. I was totally freaking out then. My friends were pressuring me to capture it. And it fled after I gave it a Pokeblock. I kinda shouted in disappointment and my teacher noticed us. We ended up getting our Gameboys confiscated for a week.

 

My first shiny was either a Clefairy or Golbat, both in Pokémon Pearl.

I didn't know what shinies were, so i caught them both because they were special ahah. I have them tucked away in my AS file.
