Realism is a really neat art style and I envy those who can do it. Have you guys ever tried realism? Did you like it? I only did realism in school. I really don't feel like putting the time and effort into making something look so realistic. In fact I don't even have the time to even try realism which is unfortunate. Self portraits are my worst enemy tho.
Personally, I don’t think my level of art ‘skill’ is good enough to make realistic art that’s esthetically pleasing. The only real piece I’ve done was that hyper realistic Feraligatr that was more of a picture I’d think turn out bad since it was also my first attempt at proper shading.
realism is drawing from real life yeah? So all you gotta do is draw what you see. If you take the time and effort Im sure you could pull something off.
Most if not all of the drawing I did for a class I took a few months ago consisted of still life, so I guess that would be considered realism. I wouldn't say my drawings were necessarily realistic (the instructor often said that I had a way of abstracting reality, or something like that) but were probably better than when I try to draw something purely from imagination.
The only times I've ever done realism were for the obligatory "draw your face and it'll look like total shit because you're in 7th grade and cant draw a damn thing" unit. I do remember doing it again in 9th but it was the same damn thing again. My art is a bootleg cartoon not the mona lisa the last time i checked I really respect people who can draw realism though!! I have a terrible sense of perspective so I could never see myself doing art like that lmao
