Reality tv

Reality TV... Well, I don't really watch much TV anymore, but there's one series I like to watch. The show follows two Dutch families who have a lot of children and shows how they tackle everyday life with their huge families. There are only about ten episodes every season, but it's really cool to watch how they do everything.
Last season, they followed a family with thirteen(!) children and a family with new born one-egg quadruplets. The people who created the show really managed to capture the stress that comes with the everyday lives of these families, and you can't help but respect them (and question why they would have that many children - okay, I guess the family with the quadruplets didn't have much choice).

Other than that one, I don't really like to watch reality TV. I've seen a few episodes from several series, and I thought most of them were strange (to put it nicely). I guess I'm not the kind of person who enjoys watching teenagers from a big Dutch city get drunk and do weird things on a Greek island. *shrugs*

 

I don't watch much TV at all, to be honest. Right now I am in a habit of watching "Modern Family" with my mom as sort of a bonding activity. I know Modern Family isn't reality TV, it just pretends to be in the format of Reality TV with its non-fixed camera holds and frequent character interview, I think it conveys a similar sense, especially with its sometimes brutally honest depictions of difficult life situations and social friction.

I used to watch some of the MTV reality show plus competition game blends (Road Rules, whatever else) a long while ago, but then I kinda grew out of it. Maybe it was those shows themselves, maybe it was the entire genre. These days, I tend to look at reality show commercials with distaste and unspoken rude comments. Like "Party Down South"? Yeah, I have some words for that show that would make Huey Freeman say "damn right" and give me a fist-bump.
