My latest gaming purchase was 2000 memories (paid currency) in mobile Arcaea. I used it to buy 5 story packs at once during their anniversary sales (400 memories each instead of 500). Should've said this much earlier tho.
I picked up Live a Live for the Nintendo Switch. This is actually one of the games that inspired me to start learning Japanese. It was only available in Japan for many years and the story and gameplay looked right up my alley. Now that I'm able to finally play Live a Live in English I can say I was right. It's fantastic so far. The 2D sprites with the modern lighting and 3D backgrounds make for some stunning visuals. This is easily one of the best looking games on the Switch. I also ordered a silicone grip for my Switch pro controller with analog stick covers. A few weeks ago I did the same thing for my DualShock 4 and it changed everything. It took a controller I'm conflicted on and made me love it.
Oh boy. So I recently attended a con, and picked up...A lot. Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly and Shenmue II for Xbox, Xenosaga II for PS2, Billy Hatcher for GCN, Shiren the Wanderer for Wii, FF V and Sigma Star Saga on GBA, Snowboard Kids 2 on N64, and Little Big Planet 1 and 2 for PS3. Also grabbed Live A Live Remake and Xenoblade 3 Special Edition is coming as well, so uh...Yeah, a lot.
umm, Wanting to give a present to myself, but none of the games I wanted, they had. so in the end I got Tekken 7 for the ps4 XD
I bought Trails From Zero off the eshop because it’s from one of my favorite JRPG series. It’s a game that was only available in Japan for ten years. The sequels were released here though, so I sadly know a good amount of the game’s spoilers. I still think I’ll enjoy the game in spite of that. I also bought Chaos;Head Noah. I’ve played a little of the sequel, but I wanted more context before I continued. One critic complained about the game’s translation not being the best. I’ve played it for a few hours and honestly it’s fine. Based off the limited Japanese I know the voice lines and English translation match close enough. The game itself is really solid. The atmosphere is fantastic. There’s lots of ambient sounds and the music has a rainy quality to it. My only real gripe with the game is that the protagonist is an unlikable jerk. He has the most unpleasant thoughts about every person he interacts with. I hope he redeems himself later because I was audibly groaning at times.
I bought 510 stellar gems (paid currency; cost $5 USD) in Rotaeno, because they released a new collaboration pack with another rhythm game called Wacca. I knew all the songs in the collab pack beforehand (ALL bangers btw) so I knew I wanted to buy it. The charts are definitely a run for my money, quite literally... I'm still not the best at Rotaeno, and all the IV difficulty charts are really high-level. There's two 12s, three 12+s, and a 13 (the highest difficulties in the game). I may or may not have been angry-crying at 3 AM (when I made the purchase) while playing through the charts for the first time...
I just preordered Pokémon Scarlet the other day, and also broke down and bought Skyrim on Steam so that I can finally see what that game's all about after all these years.
I got a $70 eShop card from a family friend as an early Christmas gift. This morning I bought four games that were on sale. First is Voez. It's a touch screen based rhythm game from 2017 by one of my favorite developers. The sunny day aesthetic is really pretty and the music is better than many games in the genre. My only gripe is that the music is noticeably compressed, even compared to other rhythm games on the Switch. I know they wanted to fit over 120 songs into 1.4 gigabytes, but the audio quality is on par with YouTube music uploads from 2009. At least the gameplay is really good. Both button controls and touch screen controls feel really nice. Next is Cytus Alpha, the same developers as Voez. This is a Switch port of a mobile rhythm game with every DLC song included. I've played Cytus 2 for years, so jumping into this one was quite easy. For some reason the game forces you to wait up to 25 seconds for other players before playing each song. The servers for this game have been inactive since the sequel came out, so I'm always just left waiting the whole time. The next time I boot the game I'll check the options menu to see if there's a way to disable this feature. I only play rhythm games to improve my own score anyway. Third is Fast RMX. This game has been on my Switch's wish list since the day the system launched. I just always got distracted with other releases and never had any money while it was on sale. Now that I finally have it I can say I've been missing out. The game runs and plays like a dream. This really is a spiritual successor to F-Zero in every way. If you're into that series and also want a new entry Fast RMX actually serves that niche well. I'm looking forward to trying every track as I unlock them. Lastly I got Monster Hunter Stories 2. I kept hearing people say this is better than every Pokémon game released in the last several years, so I picked it up. I haven't started the gameplay yet, but I can comment on the other aspects. The character customization in this game is phenomenal. There's a decent variety of skin tones and hairstyles to choose from. Unlike many games I actually felt happy with the character I made. The graphics are also some of the best I have seen on the Switch. Everything is so bright, vivid, and detailed. It looks like an anime movie come to life. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing where it goes.
Picked up some things as of recent, few things from company benefits and Steam sale concluding. Sekiro, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Rogue Legacy and DOOM Eternal
I happened to hop onto the Switch's eshop the other day and noticed that a lot of stuff was on sale, then ended up buying several games: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Lego Ninjago Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Persona 3 Portable Persona 4 Golden Shantae and the Seven Sirens
A lot of good stuff was on sale! I bought Gates to Infinity before the Eshop closed as well as the DLC for a few games. Those were my last purchases gaming wise.
Bought Scarlet Nexus Ultimate Edition, been looking forward to play the full game so when I saw it was 85% off I bought it immediately.
Picked up a lot recently. Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Kirby Squeak Squad, Trauma Center New Blood, The Advance Wars Remakes and of course, Tears of the Kingdom which I've been trudging through
Recently bought Lucy - The Eternity She Wished For - following a friend's reccomendation and I have to say, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm usually not too big of a fan when it comes to Virtual Novel, but this one does have me hooked. Also, it provides me with a direly needed pause from TOTK haha
Picked up a grip for my Switch OLED. It makes using the joycons in handheld mode ten times better. I never want to go back. It also matches the colors of my joycons, which I appreciate. My only gripe is that the lock that keeps the grip in place slides off sometimes and I have to readjust it.
Picked up two games on the PSN Days of Play sale. The full value of both was $35, but I picked them up for $5.49. The first was Aer, which I’m glad I got on sale. It feels a bit too simple to be $15. The game is very nice to look at though and flying around to piece together the story is relaxing. I was recommended Torchlight 2 since I heard it was like Diablo, which in turn is similar to Cat Quest. The graphics are really dated, but it’s a ton of fun to play. I’m glad I got such a good deal on this and I’m bummed the dev team disbanded.
Picked up two games with my first paycheck. The first is the Tsukihime remake. It has some of the best production values I’ve seen in a visual novel and it’s been good so far. The other is the Castelvania collection with two games I got on sale for $4. This is one of the best deals I’ve gotten from a game in recent memory.
