I like books. I have always liked books. And when I say books, I mean actual physical books. The ones you see at a library or a bookstore. I'm okay with textbooks, but I really love what I call fun books, like Percy Jackson or Dragon's Wild. I wonder if anyone recently read or recently purchased books of anykind. For me, I recently purchased 7 fun books that I actually read when I was younger. The Enchanted Forest series and three My Father's Dragon books. And two textbooks but I'm not talking about that.
I really need to get back into reading before my brain turns to mush. I have had 2 ongoing books since... pre-pandemic? I really need to finish em lol 1) The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss is the brick by my bedside 2) All Systems Red: The Murderbot Diaries is my travel book
I just finished another re-read of Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, one of my favorite authors at the moment. I'm also nearly through Waking Gods, which is the second book in the Themis Files series. It's a decent book so far. It's got this weird narrative style that I really like though. The story is told through a series of recordings and other "files" so it lacks direct action descriptions, but is heavy on character dialogue.
The one I'm currently reading is called 'I had that same dream again' by Yoru Sumino. Its about an elementary school girl and her three friends, all much different from the other. I love the writing, the characters, the plot and most of all, the cozy Japan town setting. Recommend reading this book if you are looking for a light hearted but solid story. P.S. its by the author of 'I want to eat your pancreas'.
I am currently reading 'How to Train Your Dragon' it is a very interesting read, much different from the movie.
Several days ago I got The Colour of Magic by Terry Prachet. It was going perfectly fine until a weird, horrendously written line appeared. The line was so terrible that now I want to donate the book. I was told his later books are much better so I picked a different one up from the library. Also picked up The Warden by Daniel M. Ford yesterday mostly because of the really nice cover and the fact it was in the staff recommended section at the bookstore I was at. So far it’s starting out kind of slow.
