Guys, why regirock is still NU?
With high defence(200 base stat on defence!!!!) and pretty good spD(100 base)
I think it should make a grreat wall in uu or maybe above as well!
    Why is it still NU?

I have no idea. To add to why it should be moved up, it has access to the three elemental punch moves, as well as Drain Punch, is a deadly Assault Vest user, or even Leftovers user and becomes deadly fast with Rock Polish. I love the guy, he works well on some of my teams, but NU is way too low to put him in.

I think he is down there because of his type and lack of reliable recovery. He is weak to five common types, steel, grass, water, fighting and the all powerful earthquake ground type attack. While he has leftovers and drain punch, drain punch isn't STAB and isn't going to heal enough to keep him in the fight forever. If it was given a move like recover (Pokédex says it can put rocks back on itself) I'm sure it's usage might rise a good amount.

Yes rest is good to an extent. It will get rid of other statuses. You can have chesto to wake it up immediately, but that wastes an item. It could have a different item with rest, but then you have a sleeping Pokémon with five weaknesses for a few turns. You could run curse with rest, you would just have to watch out for phazers and strong special moves (no assault vest with status moves). Overall regirock is decent, but I don't see it carrying teams anytime soon.

Weakness Policy Regirock is one of the largest threats in NU because it is hugely bulky, can hit really hard, and has the movepool to go along with it.

If paired with Drain Punch, Stone Edge, and Earthquake, Regirock gets complete coverage against every single Pokémon out there. The last move (Rock Polish) can allow it to get to the speed necessary for sweeping easily. Once it has 2x Attack and 2x Speed (Sp. Attack doesn't matter), then Regirock is pretty much free to sweep while taking all of the hits in the world that it wants.

Regirock has a few weaknesses, for example, Shell Smash Gorebyss will easily take it out with a well placed Hydro Pump that is sure to wipe it out.

Regirock should be at least RU in my opinion because there are too many Pokémon in UU that stop it short.

Um... people don't use it. Tiers are based on usage, and no one really uses it. If it were overcentralizing, it would be banned, but it doesn't wall the tier enough. Its typing and stat distribution just aren't good enough.

I agree wholeheartedly, you have drain punch for recovery however, making it an EXTREEMLY viable assault vest user, being able to bulk physical and special attacks whilst hitting unbelievably hard and recovering easily, its like a NU Primal Groudon in my opinion.

Just found this thread, and I'd like to revive it a bit so I can see what @[member="sohrob101"] says about this.

Agreeing with @[member="Spammernoob"] here. Tiers based on usage is the key element of Smogon's competitive system. In fact, this is a key element in all battle systems (excluding VGC), so Regirock not being above NU isn't surprising. It has some really boss stats, but in the end, it's not a wall capable of withstanding even two High Jump Kicks from (regular) Medicham at maximum defenses (which is extremely uncommon, but possible): 252+ Atk Pure Power Medicham High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Regirock: 246-290 (67.5 - 79.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The biggest problem that Regirock faces is a single STAB against a wide range of Pokémon that can shut it down with Will-O-Wisp, Spore, or any Grass move.

When it comes to singles im not too sure if regirock can hold as much ground on its own. I use it in VGC 15 and by far it has more viable play and options there especially for the meta. I have only run Assault vest Regirock as it makes it so I can invest my Ev's in to other stats for regirock. But other good items for regirock can be lum berry or weakness policy. I agree, if regirock gets burned, your going to be in a lot of trouble. But one thing that makes regirock great, is it's the only legitimate and viable pure rock type in general, Gigalith is nice but Regirock can cover more ground. Regirock also gets the elemental punches and even drain punch. I would suggest running a bulky set, and only focus a tad on power. In singles i believe regirock is more of a Pokémon that sets up. What's great about Regirock is it won't get 1HKO from anything if you give it the proper investment making it so regirock has a solid time getting atleast one move off. It's hidden ability in my opinion is a lost cause so your better off with clear body as you don't need to worry about regirock getting intimidated. Overall from my own experience Regirock has great potential for a setup stall in singles, and great partner play in vgc 15. That's my two cents on Regirock. Hope I was able to give good enough input on the Pokémon.
