Movies are being remade all the time and, whilst there is a timeless charm about some old movies, there are some that are in need of a more modern touch...or not. Are there any movies you would like to see remade? What form would this take - live action, CGI, animated? Are there any remakes you feel are better than the original? Worse?
Usually the ones with timeless quality are the really well-known ones like The Wizard of Oz or Casablanca, and thus really don't need a remake. With that having been said, a lot of movies being remade hardly have any age to them (much like many TV shows... *glares at Teen Titans GO*) and so don't really need a remake. The issue they're facing is that it's far riskier to create new content than to produce endless sequels/spinoffs/remakes, and given the nearly-juvenile mentality of modern Hollywood executives (and a few other factors that I won't go into due to the... volatility... these factors induce in others) the choice is clear Clear Eyes. If there were any movies I would want to see remade I'd like to see older movies from the 40s and 50s that have potential to reach a more modern generation. If at all possible, I'd rather them be live-action with just the barest hint of CGI. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm simply tired of CGI (*glares at the Star Wars prequels*).
Some remakes are okay I guess, but most of them are either pointless or total garbage compared to the original. There have been a larger amount of remakes coming out recently and I kinda wish they'd just stop already. Can't people make original movies anymore? The Disney remakes are by far the worst ones though, taking classic animated films and turning them into lifeless CGI-infested cash grabs. The trailer for the new ""live action"" Lion King remake dropped today and good God it's gotta be the most disappointing trailer I've seen since the one for Pacific Rim: Uprising. The whole thing just looks... bland. Sure the CGI is impressive, but at the same time the hyper realism takes away all the charm and personality the characters had in the original movie. Scar isn't menacing anymore, Pumba just looks like a regular old warthog with no character, I could go on. This movie really wasn't needed and its quite obvious it was made to rake in mountains of money (just like the rest of the Disney remakes). Such a shame this souless cash grab of a movie will make over a billion dollars... Sorry I just had to rant about TLK remake because I'm so disappointed, since the original is one of my favourite movies. Haha but seriously though Disney pls stop Moving on, there really aren't any movies I'd like to be remade. I'd much rather go and watch the original then see a modernised version that probably won't be half as good.
I would like to see some of the original Disney movies remade. Not the good Disney movies though like the Lion King, I'm talking about the Disney movies that have rather offensive material in them and desperately need to update with the times (One example is Sleeping Beauty or Jim Crow for Dumbo). The updates done to these stories shouldn't really change the visual style though. Keep the same type of animation and theme, it was made that way for a reason. However, the animation should still be the best and beautiful to look. The major changes should be in the writing, writing their stories for a wider, modern audience, while still keeping the original flare.
