Time for a nostalgia trip! Back before home consoles and handhelds, we had arcades for gaming! (Oh, the sweet sound of quarters and nickels...) What are some of your favorite arcade games to play, whether they be on an actual booth or on recreated consoles? I think my favorite arcade game has to be Gyruss or Asteroids. I was/am a huge sci-fi person, and I loved the deceptively challenging gameplay of both. Will never get tired of Donkey Kong and Pacman though!
I've played a bunch of those games, especially since I've got them on steam. Anyway, Asteroids was my favorite as well as Galaga. They weren't my style cause there was no story to it, you just survive as long as you can and that is it.
Since my first games were on the Commodore 64/128, many of the games I grew up with were arcade games. I've even gone to arcades and blown lots of money on them, just because I enjoy them so much (of course, I was a kid, so even just five or ten dollars was a lot of money). My favorite is Pac-Man.
Heheh, good old classic Pacman. What was the highest level you ever got to? I think my record was about 25 ish. Nowehere near the legendary 255
Oo ooh, totally forgot about another game I loved! Phoenix. Phoenix was great. Sure, it was kinda like a mix of Galaga and Space Invaders, but I had a blast on it. Also Tempest. Tempest was/is amazing.
I actually went to a museum in NYC where there was a arcade exhibit. I loved it and kept a few coins from it. My favorite one was Donkey Kong, the original.
Pinball and Centipede are my two favorites of the older arcade games. Of newer games, I like rhythm-based games. There's an arcade near where I live that I go to sometimes that's in the middle of an old abandoned mall. It's really cool. They do game rentals and exchanges too.
*Googles "Is pinball an arcade game???"* ... Huh! Then HECK YEAH PINABALL IS AWESOME! I think the coolest pinball machine I've seen is one where the case was transparent, so you could see all the inner mechanisms within. I love figuring out how things work
ah , the old days , my friend and me usually talks about the arcade machine over and over again , i, sadly didn't (yet , probably) go to the real arcade machine to play games oh,i am going off-topic , i'll be honest here , my favourite arcade game is Pac-man i mean who wouldn't like a yellow dude who eats magical berries to eats ghost?
Most arcade games are a bit too simple for me, but I always enjoyed the Mario Kart machines. The controls were surprisingly comfortable and the multiplayer was fun. I also remember trying one of those VR first person shooter machines and getting a nasty headache afterward.
There's no real 'arcade place' where I live anymore, but I encountered a arcade place within a gigantic Chuck E Cheese when I was a kid visiting my aunt and cousins. My family's game store also has a few arcade cabinets. Centipede and Galaga are some of my favorites, tbh
There used to be an arcade at a shopping center I frequented regularly as a child...then it was turned into a clothes shop, and now it's a Pound Stretcher. How the mighty have fallen, indeed. But honestly I never liked arcades...you never got enough time for your money. I see parallels between classic arcades and the current generation of microtransactions and lootboxes honestly, with the only real difference being the amount of money you have to pay upfront. I have always dislike paying more than once to play something, and I guess it stems from my frustration with arcades as a kid.
