Return of the Strange Souvenir

I think it was introduced to get people guessing at what the next region would be and is now just there to make people speculate what its true purpose is. In other words, it serves no purpose other than a conversation starter, much like an actual souvenir like that would be. Ingenious thinking on Game Freak's part if that's the case, at least in my opinion.
