In what we hope to be the first in a monthly series, Rom Hack of the Month will showcase one ROM hack for four weeks, aiming to either raise awareness of it or simply share something that avid ROM players would perhaps like to try out.

Pokémon Christmas version​

Released in 2012, this festive Gold Hack was created by Mateo. A 2014 version was recently released, and it saw some publicity in the last few weeks with popular Youtuber SleepyJirachi hosting a livestream let's play of the fan-made ROM build.

Mega Man In The Mushroom Kingdom​

Barrelling its way into the second month of 2015, we have this unique foray in the ROM Hack landscape; Mega Man In The Mushroom Kingdom. Conceived by user AlexAR, this clash of video games comes from a modded version of Mega Man 1, exchanging the Tron-like landscape of Sega's infamously hard first entry in a long-lasting series with the familiar vistas of the Mario world, you'll be happy to know that this game is far less difficult than the original game.

Welcome to the world of Rinto!​

As suggested by our lovely Super-mod, @[member="shinygiratinaz"], this Fire-Red hack comes to us from diegoisawesome of DoMoreAwesome games. Please bear in mind that, as of January 20th, 2015, this ROM Hack is still in Beta, so you will be limited as to how far you can progress within the game.
