I've always wanted to make my own RPG and I've seen an RPG maker but wasn't sure whether or not to download it or not. Have you guys tried to make an RPG or have you at least thought about it?

Oh my gosh this question is so helpful because lately I've been thinking about downloading it too...

Idk if you're going to pirate it or what not, but i know the steam summer sale is probably starting soon so you should be able to purchase it there with a hefty discount! If I remember correctly (and take this with a grain of salt) I remember one of the new-er rpg makers going for like, 20 bucks on the last sale!

You could get RPG Maker 2k or 2k3 for free. It's what I use.

It comes down to what type of RPG you want to make, RPG Maker is great for Pokémon like RPG's, uses a traditional sprite style, top down view etc etc but that's about it. To my knowledge it doesn't work with 3D RPG's, or different camera angles. Tbh I would recommend something like Unity if you want to make a low quality (in looks) RPG, issue is you have to learn coding for that but it's worth it imo xD

If you do want a Pokémon type RPG then definitely use RPG Maker, I use RPGMaker XP and with the Pokémon Essentials pack you can quickly start putting a Pokémon game together, and the method really works for any game you make in it.
