Rumors you believed about R/B/Y

I never really believed any of those rumors. I'm very sceptical with those things.
However...
I must confess...
Every time I throw a Pokéball, I still press all the buttons xD

 

I didn't believed the rumor as I always used the Missing no. cheat in my Blue version. I got infinite money thanks to all those sold rare candies and I never ran out of HM's. I used my red version as a normal play through with no cheats at all
I also pressed all the buttons in hope it will raise the catch rate. I fear I still might do something similar now and then x'D

 

I heard from someone that at the end of the game there was this island you could go to that had the final evolutions of the starters you didn't choose. I also heard that you could get scuba gear and go diving. I believed these at first but hey, you can go diving in later gens.

 

This. I didn't even know it was a rumor until like. When I got XY a few months ago XD

I thought the catching trick was switching between A and B at a certain interval.

I don't even know where I heard that rumor. I wasn't on the internet much when I was playing R/B. I also don't know any other rumors for the games o.0

 

The only one I knew about was the catching one, but I'd heard it was only one button you would hold down, I think B. xD Made sense to me at the time, so I did do it.

 

I found a rumor on a site about being able to send in your cartridge to Game Freak with 150 Pokémon and get Mew on it back.

 

Just found out highest Pokémon lvl you can reach is lvl 100 in RBY instead of lvl 99....now idk if half my childhood memories were figments of my imagination or actually real

 

If you're familiar with the Lavender Town Syndrome creepypasta/rumor, I actually did think it was real... The Lavender Town music still scares me to this day.

 

the lavender town do get some creepy rumors.
I remember I was told you could get a mew by doing some sort of hack with a magikarp by a friend once, and she got a small army of mews, turns out it was just some rumor she might had made up and I never got a mew, but dang I caught a lot of magikarps.
I also heard a rumor that if SS Anne never set sail you will be able to find a mew near a truck later on, I never found the mew though >:

at the given time I was to young to truly appreciate the true strength and value like I can today.
I did managed to get a mew for a short time before she demanded it back x'D

 

When I first played yellow someone told me that if I use Pikachu that it would be invincible. I believed them lol.

 

The Missing No rumor is very true it happened in my yellow ._.
