What's y'all's favorite subject in school? How well do you typically do in school? Do you even like school? How good is your school?

I find school to be alright at times. Since I'm in Hawaii, I'm not really getting a good education out of it, but it's helped me build character and gain not only social skills, but also street smarts. I've always loved science, and to be more specific I love physics and biology. Like I said though, I'm not getting much of it here, butt I will admit I will miss this place...eventually

This is for those who require context for the topic title:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcGQpjCztgA

I consider myself to be a very strong student. I get high marks in virtually all of my classes, and even on ones I don't mesh quite as well with, or aren't as confident with, my performance tends to be above-average. I believe in aiming for the high mark/grade, because in case I fall short by a bit, I am still within acceptable boundaries. (If I aimed simply to pass, and then fell short of that, I'd be in deep trouble.)

I do want to be out of university, though - I feel like I have been within the education system for too long, and I am ready to break free. This also means that I would have to bid farewell to my current occupation (at present I am a student employee), which is a shame because it's something I've come to enjoy. Perhaps I may still find that avenue somewhere.

As far as subjects go, my strongest point is definitely math, with most things related to such as well. Numbers are a passion of mine, and manipulating them is a relaxing pastime. Science is another strong point, though I'm not as good with that due to lack of practice - though I still have my old textbooks just in case. I don't think there's one large area I perform poorly at, though lately I'm learning about many other things I wasn't as aware of in the education system - and finding out that some of those things simply are not easy for me to pick up.

Oh, I love biology! When I graduate from my school (within two years), I plan on studying something biological... Most likely something with cells, genes and DNA. It's so fascinating...

I love my school, only now it's doing things I don't love... Let's not talk about that. It's a long story. I think my school is one of the better ones in the region (if I hear the stories from the school my brother is attending, well, I think I should be lucky with mine). Out of all my nephews and nieces who already went off to study, I'm one of the few whose school actually supports us in choosing what study direction we want to go in.

I do well in school. I have to work my butt off though (which I don't like), and I see myself getting more and more demotivated even though this is important for my future... Oops

I was in public schools K through 12, and they were all pretty good, well-funded, low-crime schools (though we did have two bomb threats in high school, and only one was legit). History and math were never strong points for me, but language(s) and science were always fun. I've felt they were more practical and applicable to my life than the other two.

I like writing, whether it's fiction or non-fiction, so I've enjoyed pretty much every English class I've ever had except the last one. For some reason, after I transferred to a new university, they made me retake English 102, despite the fact that I took and excelled in 200-level English classes already. This 102 class wasn't an English class, it was a personal growth class. We would talk more about our five-year plans and read-reflect "inspirational short stories" than write about anything. We even had one assignment where we made a poster of our plans for some BS or another, with one catch: it's just pictures, no words. Excuse me, but how is that a writing assignment? I still can't believe I was forced to pay for that class.

Sciences are always fun though, especially the labs. As long as there's not too much math (no Physics for me, please), I'll have a blast doing it. That's why my major is Chemistry: There's less intense math than in Physics and less abstract memorization of chemical pathways than in Biology. It's a perfect fit for me!

I love school a lot - it is amongst my favourite things!

I delight in all subjects just as long as there is no animal cruelty in them (specifically science). My sister and I average the score of 'A', meaning we're very bright. We make sure that every lesson is completely paid attention to, and at the end of the day, delightfully complete our homework tasks.

    Is lunch a subject? :P

Football is my favorite subject. It's one of the only classes I like (the others being EMT and Digital Graphics) as I really hate school. As far as grades, I don't really try, but I still tend to do well. I know that I have people cheating off of me in almost all of my classes, so I must be doing something right. :P
As far as the school itself, it's considered one of the best public high schools in the nation (it was in the top 100 last I checked).

No, Patrick; lunch is not a subject.

Free time is not a subject either.

My best subject was art and the worst was math, ugh I hated math.
I didn't do well in school because I was bullied, and therefore couldn't really concentrate on my work with kids throwing things at me and insulting me all the time T_T I didn't really ever want to go school because of that either.
As for how good my school was? Average? School's aren't really in competition here.

I'm... Well, I'm debated on my views of School really. College is actually great, no problem there. I enjoy working on my stuff there (mostly: the legal stuff is hell) and generally try to do my best with all the work! My course being creative, there's a fair amount of freedom to be had which I enjoy.

    But then there's secondary school...

Secondary (which I believe is middle everywhere else) school was torment and torture. I hated it: and that was mostly down to its students. I constantly got bullied, day by day. I'm not fully sure why, but my suspicions have me believe that due to how innocent I was, I was easily abused. That horror went on for 3 and a half years, I plunged more and more into despair, and at times the bullying got so bad I turned tyo suicidal thoughts: if it wasn't for my family I might've just went through with it.

Eventually, it grew hard to care. Hard to care about grades, when they were just a letter on a sheet. Hard to care about other people. Hard to care about myself. Thankfully, that's different now: the experience makes me want to make sure that nobody goes through that same hell like me, and even if they do they'll have someone to go through it with. I care more about myself now, and college has made me want to aim for good grades again. I love college, and I know I'll be sad to have to leave, but hey! Life must move on.

So, as regards to a favourite subject, it's pretty much anything Computer Games design related such as the concept stages right through to the 3D stuff: I love it all! It's incredibly enjoyable and has really uplifted my spirits ever since education seemed to be ruined for me.

Back when I was in high school, I used to love Biology a lot. I found learning about it really interesting and actually set my sights towards studying something related to it for quite a while, before finally deciding on my current degree. My school was alright. It's considered one of the better schools in my country, so I'm pretty happy that I got to go there. I didn't have the best of times, but there weren't many bad spots either. My grades usually ranged from around average to high-ish, depending on whether or not I was good at the subject. I tried my best, nonetheless. Glad that stage of life's all behind me now.

I actually really like school! I think one of my favorite subjects as of now is Calculus. It isn't an easy A unfortunately, bu it's really fun actually understanding well, the physics behind physics. What I really like about certain types of math is that there is pretty much always an answer. You don't have to take too many guesses like English. I love how logical it is and how it really can relate to many subjects. I mean what's the point of learning something that doesn't relate to anything?

    Heehee, fancy that.

Now that is interesting. The large complaint I get about calculus is how it doesn't relate to anything else.

Granted, I'll admit that most of calculus' applications are found in physics (derivatives for sure, but I haven't found any practical use for integrals outside it, at least not that I know of), it does have several applications elsewhere, especially in the business sector - derivatives figure heavily into economics and optimisation, as well as marginal revenue/cost/profit functions, to see where the ideal range or goal would be. (Heck, if something has the word 'marginal' in front of it, calculus is most likely involved.)

Based on my observations, I believe it largely comes down to the teacher's strength and the student's mindset. Is the teacher engaging the students and making the material a pleasure to learn? Is the student there to gain information to one day retain or does s/he just seek to pass the class and be done with it? I've noticed the 'bad' answers to both those questions generate the thought that calculus is never used anywhere else.

And it may be true that they'll never really run into calculus applications again. Then again, I tutor for business majors, so I doubt that.
I will instill my love of math as best I can, but I will not make them suffer any more than the class is already making them. Most students are in the mindset of passing the class just so the pre-requisite for all the other stuff is met. And if you go into a subject with that mindset, without a really engaging teacher you won't retain the material very well at all, I feel.
