(So this was an English class assignment I felt like posting here... the assignment was writing about what you considered to be “home” in “free verse prose”. Still don’t really know what that is, but I tried.) I love my family As much as the next person. Through thick and thin Through elementary school And middle school They were there for me. My support, My comfort, My home. However That all seemed to change in high school When I joined color guard It seemed like I had joined a second family. A second home. A second home bonded by this one activity A second home where you can be yourself, A second home where you’re loved, A second home where you’re accepted, A second home where it’s okay to make a mistake, A second home of beauty, A second home of grace, A second home of… Family. A family that performs together, A family that spins together, A family that laughs together, A family that cries together, A family that remains together, Forever. And I am eternally grateful For those 12 individuals- (For privacy reasons, I’m not sharing their names)- For this second family, My second home. (And we also had to include a picture and for privacy reasons I won’t be showing a picture of them. Instead, here’s a picture of our 8 (un)official seal mascots.) Spoiler: Seals (The one on top is Jerry, the big one is Larry, the pink and white ones on his back are Perry and Carrie (respectively), and the 4 in the front are Gary, Terri, Barry, and Mary (respectively).
