So, after everyone was named and shamed, I finally got to start my journey. Better say goodbye to Mother first...

After leaving my house, I walked around outside and decided to enter some tall grass, before I heard the great Professor Oak calling to me, telling me that it was too dangerous to go alone, so I needed to take "this". When I asked him what "this" was, he just shook his head and took me to his lab.


Nice shades, bruh.

Inside his lab, Bloom-senpai was already waiting for me.


I see you enjoy being a chef, senpai, but this is Pokémon. Please change into something more appropriate, OK?

Now, time to choose a starter! Let's see who I can pick from...

Silcoon, Lugia, or Bisharp... GUESS I'M GONNA CHOOSE LUGIA LMAO

I chose Lugia, obviously, and named it Shiro! It has some good moves!


Well, I mean, they're not terrible.


Oh wait, I didn't think that far ahead. Dark beats Psychic, oh no.

So, Bloom-senpai challenged me to a battle. I wonder if she changed into something more appropriate, like I asked her to...

So, after I annihilated Bloom-senpai, I went on to Route 1, where I trained a bit, got the parcel for Oak in Viridian City, went back to Pallet Town to get the Pokédex, then went back to Viridian City to buy some Poke Balls so I could do my first capture. It's...


Tauros! Hmm, I think I have a good name for this guy...

He's got some OK moves too. I guess Headbutt does get STAB. Alright, let's go and take on the worl-

So, with a heavy heart, I deposited my new friend into the PC, where he could frolic amongst nobody, because he's the first death.

Moving on, I decided to head to Route 22 and see if I could capture anything there. My encounter for the Route was...


Eelektrik! To be honest, he looks really cool here! Time to weaken it and-


Shiro, you're too strong. This was a mistake.

So, without a capture on Route 22, I decided to fight Bloom-senpai again and gain some unneeded experience on Shiro.


I still can't get over this. I wonder if this is what Bloom looks like IRL...

Anyway, Bloom's team had changed this time, consisting of Mankey and Mareep.

So, after barely escaping defeat, I headed north to Route 2 to see if I could encounter something else I could catch. My encounter for the route was...

Disappointed in my overpowered starter Pokémon, I headed into Viridian Forest with low expectations. My encounter for the area was...


Nuzleaf! Wait, Shiro has Vine Whip! I CAN ACTUALLY NOT KILL SOMETHING FOR ONCE!

Welcome to the team, Nook. Don't ask why I called him this, I just felt like he was a Nook when I saw him.


Nice moves! Night Slash hits as a critical hit every time, it's so OP.


Pffffffffffttt, this is so silly.

Whilst grinding for levels and exploring Viridian Forest, I found some TMs! Since they're randomised as well, I'll make sure I record each one I find.


Not exactly the best moves, but I guess I can make some quick cash off of them if I need to.

With my journey ahead looking full of promise now that I had two Pokémon, I made my way out of Viridian Forest.


OK, so either they're dead and swimming in the floor, or I've become Jesus and I'm walking on the water. I'm gonna go with the latter.

I headed straight to the Gym once I was in Pewter City.


What is it with everyone and swimming through the ground?

Anyway, time to fight my first Gym Leader, Brock. With his burly figure and manly Rock-type Pokémon, this should be a tough-


I guess I did assume his gender.

Anyway, the fight with Brock went smoothly. His team consisted of an Altaria and Karrablast, both defeated with much ease. I received my Boulder Badge and the TM for Bide.


Sorry, Egg Bomb.

After leaving the Gym, I healed up at the Pokémon Center, and saved on the exit of Pewter City. Once Bloom-senpai catches up with me, we'll have our first battle!

 

Both. Bloom is a real person, as well as being the persona I'm using as my in-game rival.

 

ENTRY 2 - CASCADE BADGE

Continuing off from last time, I made my way out of Pewter City and on to Route 3. So, in order to add to my team, I decided to search for a Pokémon. My encounter for the route was...


Petilil! I managed to capture it, and I named it Bloom, after my senpai~


She's got some OK moves, time to level you u-

Rest in Peace, Bloom. I barely knew you, but at least Bullsh*t has some company now.

After laying Bloom down to rest, I continued on to the Pokémon Center near Mt. Moon and purchased the Magikarp from the Magikarp Salesman. Turns out, it wasn't a Magikarp at all, but was instead a Darmanitan! I named it Hothead.


This is gonna be good~


Huh, maybe you really are a Magikarp...


Yup, definitely a Magikarp. Only those can be killed by Chingling. I put Hothead into the PC, but forgot to take a screenshot. RIP Hothead, you had so much potential, but being a Magikarp despite not being a Magikarp really didn't help you.

OK, time for Mt. Moon. Hopefully this goes well. My encounter for the area was...


Fraxure! He looks really cool, let's try and catch-


NO, NOT NOOK. HE WAS SO GOOD. Fraxure, you better get in that Poké Ball, I swear to Arceus-

Continuing on through Mt. Moon, I was able to sweep every NPC with Shiro because he's just extremely OP now. I found some interesting TMs...


I ended up using Bonemerang and Ember on Shiro, his movepool was a little lacking.

I also found some interesting items!


I'm pretty sure I'm not meant to have any of these...

Eventually, I made my way to the exit, making sure to pick up the Helix Fossil on the way out. Praise Lord Helix!


Surprisingly, it was still a Helix Fossil when I claimed it. What are the chances it'll be an Omanyte when I revive it?

Continuing on, I decided to get my encounter for Route 4. My encounter for the route was... Pidgeotto! Except, I didn't have any Poke Balls, so I just killed it and ran.

I made my way into Cerulean City, where I remembered to buy some Poke Balls, before heading north to Routes 24 and 25. But first, time to fight Bloom-senpai!


Despite it being a 4 v 1 fight, I managed to easily overpower Bloom-senpai's team of Cleffa, Skiploom Victini and Lotad. Then, I went on and sweeped every trainer on Nugget Bridge, and got my encounter on Route 24. My encounter for the route was...


Pupitar! I caught it and named it PlsDontDie. I was desperate, alright?


Those are actually some good moves. Let's go and train you up a little, shall w-

After Route 24 comes Route 25, so let's get an encounter. My encounter for the route was...


Wooper! Oh man, I need this! Luckily, I caught it too~ I, of course, named it Wippor.


His moves are... Well, I guess... Oh dear...

Rest in Peace, Wippor. I can't believe I let the meme die so fast...

Anyway, with all these deaths, I started feeling like giving up, but I pressed on. Route 25 held some interesting TMs to find.


Ironically, Shiro couldn't learn Air Slash.

I reached the end of Route 25, helped Bill turn himself back into a man after being a woman, and then headed south to Route 5 for my last-chance encounter before Misty. The Rocket Grunt who stole "TM Dig" actually gave me a second Pokédex. It works exactly as the menu function does, in case you were curious.

Anyway, Route 5. My encounter for the route was...

Never mind

Now, I was absolutely certain that this was going to be the end. I had no idea what Pokémon Misty would have, even though Shiro was extremely over-levelled. But, I still wanted at least one more Pokémon, just in case I needed a sacrifice. Then, I remembered that you can fish in the Gym statues in Cerulean Gym, and that I had picked up 2 rods in Mt. Moon!


This might be my saving grace. My unlikely encounter for the area was...


Durant! I'll take it!


I named it Meep, but I accidentally added an extra P after taking the screenshot, so it's real name is Meepp.


Meepp has a decent moveset, and can actually survive in a battle! I managed to level it up all the way to Lv. 25 without it dying! With this new burst of confidence, I made my way into Cerulean Gym, and proceeded to challenge Misty.



You were expecting Misty. But it was me, Gio(vanni)!

Anyway, Gym Leader Giovanni-Misty's team consisted of, ironically, a Kabutops and a Kabuto. Shiro easily defeated them with Vine Whips, and I was awarded a Cascade Badge and the TM for Bubblebeam.


Darn it, Air Slash again!

After leaving the Gym, I healed up at the Pokémon Center, and saved on the exit of Cerulean City. Once Bloom-senpai catches up with me, we'll have our next battle!

 

ENTRY 3 - THUNDER BADGE

Continuing on from last time, I made my way down to Route 6, where I found my first encounter of the day. My encounter for the route was...


Swoobat! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to capture it, since I tried weakening it with Leech Seed, but it was knocked out before I could capture it.

Moving on, I made my way to Route 11, east of Vermillion City. My encounter for the route was...


Machamp! I did manage to catch this Machamp, and I named him Buff Boi.


His moves leave a lot to be desired, but I can work with it.

The next area I travelled to was Diglett Cave. My encounter for the area was...


Pawniard! I captured it too, and named it Blade.


Blade's got some good moves, but they could be better. I'd rather weaker moves with no drawback than stronger moves with drawbacks

Anyway, I returned to Route 6 to train up my two new Pokémon.


Unfortunately, Blade didn't make it. Buff Boi is still going strong, though!


Rest in Peace, Blade. You'll be used for HM Cut later.


Oh, so that's where you were hiding!

As I went to collect the above Dome Fossil, the game alerted me to the fact that my bag was full, so I went and deposited some items into the PC, where I found out that there was a TM waiting in there, which had been swapped out for the regular Potion.


I taught it to Buff Boi. He's a good Pokémon now.

I then boarded the SS Anne in order to obtain HM Cut. As usual, the area gave me some interesting TMs.


I ended up teaching Dig to Meepp, and then replacing it with Bulldoze.

With all these items in tow, I went to go collect HM Cut, when a familiar face stopped me.


No idea what he's saying here, I only speak English.


Senpai also found the Fountain of Old Age, they look just like their grandfather now.

Senpai's team consisted of Dewgong, Nuzleaf, Litleo, and Timburr. My extremely overpowered team dominated the fight. I went and collected HM Cut, and then made my way to Lt. Surge's Gym.


Turns out the lieutenant is a closet furry.


He also let himself go after the war.

Lt. Surge's team consisted of Kadabra, Bronzor, and Walrein, which were once again dominated by my overpowered team. Lt. Surge awarded me with the Thunder Badge and TM 24 Thunderbolt.


Wait... this isn't even a TM! Surge you scoundrel!

After leaving the Gym, I healed up at the Pokémon Center, and saved on the east exit of Cerulean City, which was previously blocked with a Cut tree. Once Bloom-senpai catches up with me, we'll have our next battle!

 

ENTRY 4 - RAINBOW BADGE

So, to start off my adventure, I headed east from Cerulean City onto Route 9. My encounter for the route was...


Vanillite! I caught her and named her Sugar. Ice-cream has sugar in it, right?


That Selfdesctruct is dangerous, let's replace it with the TM for Psywave. Time to grind for levels!


...Or not.

Moving on, I made my way through Route 9 and on to Route 10. My encounter for the route was...


Wynaut! Unfortunately, it was stubborn and would not let me catch it, so I ran out of Poke Balls.

After a quick back-track to Route 2 to collect HM Flash and buy more balls, I made my way in to Rock Tunnel. My encounter for the area was...


Probopass! I was able to catch it, but I skipped one-too-many dialogue boxes and it didn't end up giving it a nickname.


...I don't feel too good about this.


Knew it.

I made my way through Dark Cave, through to Lavender Town, and then headed east on to Route 8. My encounter for the route was...


Kricketune! He was very co-operative and hooped into the first Poké Ball I tossed. I named him DELELEWOOP, obviously.


Not a bad set of moves at all. Wrap is actually very over-powered, because it prevents the foe from attacking. Most of my matches while grinding DELELEWOOP were just spamming Wrap until the foe died. That was, until...


It was defeated by a crit from Bloom's Mewtwo, who was obviously salty that it lost the last fight against me.


Rest in Peace, DELELEWOOP. You were almost part of the end-game team.

I decided to make a quick detour to Route 12 to fish for a Pokémon. My encounter for the route was...


Gligar! I caught it and named it Scorpio.


...Well, they could be worse.


Darn it.


Rest in Peace, Scorpio. I'm sorry.

I continued down Route 8 and moved through the Underground Passage, and ended up on Route 7. My encounter for the route was...


Panpour! I caught her, and named her Tina, but I accidentally ended the name too quickly and she became Tin.


Nice moves!

I headed into Celadon City, where I first stopped by the large apartment building, where I could find my free Eevee.


Hello, Masuda-chan~ (Well, actually, Masuda would the the one in the chair next to me, since he wasn't the designer back in Gen 1, he was the sound programmer)


Turns out the Eevee was actually a Malamar. Named her KidOrSquid. She's got some OK moves, but luckily, I hear that the Celadon Department Store is filled with TMs.

I headed straight to the Celadon Department Store, and bought one of every TM they had to offer. Out of the ones they had, I used the TMs for Thrash, Leech Life, Play Rough, Confusion, and Thunder. I also gave some drinks to an old man on the roof, and he gave me the Card Key to the elevator in the Silph Co. building. Look who doesn't have to go searching around in Saffron City now~


I also bought a Water Stone and evolved Tin. My first evolution of the game!


...Too bad she was annihilated so quickly.


Rest in Peace, Tin. You were unique to say the least.

Fortunately for me, grinding with KidOrSquid was a huge success, and she's now on-par with my other team members, so she's definitely a staple now!

After grinding, I made my way to the Celadon Gym.

Erika didn't even give me the pleasure of being a girl in-battle. Her team consisted of Litleo, Meganium, and Froakie, and I defeated her with ease. I was granted the Rainbow Badge, and the wonderful prize of...

After leaving the Gym, I healed up at the Pokémon Center, and inside Team Rocket's Hideout, where I knew I'd need to go for the Silph Scope in order to progress with the story. Once Bloom-senpai catches up with me, we'll have our next battle!

 

ENTRY 5 - SOUL BADGE

Continuing off from last time, I made my way into the Rocket Hideout in the Celadon Game Corner to steal- I mean steal the Silph Scope from Giovanni. (Yes, I repeated steal. It was intentional)

Upon entering, I took a quick detour to collect an item I found on the ground.


Well that was easy.

Not needing to go any further, since I somehow found a second Silph Scope, I decided to head in further and torture myself anyway.


This was an excellent idea.

Of course, the Rocket Hideout had it's fair share of great TMs.


I didn't use any of them.

Now it's time to fight the horrible mob boss, Giovanni!

Beared Giovanni's team consisted of Vivillon, Gourgeist, and Audino. As per every major battle in this goddamn Nuzlocke, I lost no-one.

Moving on, I made my way over to the house on Route 16 where one gets HM Fly, but not before getting an encounter first. My encounter for the route was...


Snover! This guy's cute, let's catch-


"It's not very effective" my ass.

Disappointed, I went and collected Fly and taught it to Shiro, before heading over to Lavender Town to scale Pokémon Tower. But first, some annoying old man ran into me.


Just kidding, it was Senpai.


T-That's a lot of Pokémon...

Senpai's team consisted of Regice, Hariyama, Weedle, Shellos and Tynamo. I guess it was a mixed bag of good and bad? Regice was a tough lead, I almost lost someone to it.

Anyway, moving on. I scaled the tower, and got my first encounter. My ecnounter for the area was...


Floatzel! I caught him and named him Flynn. I love Floatzel~


His moves aren't great, but I have like 50 TMs. I can fix this.


Look, some more TMs! Too bad these ones suck, and also Flynn can't learn them.


This was supposed the ghost Marowak. Except, it was Clefairy with a Rampardos sprite. I found out it was a Clefairy because the Ground-type attack I used wasn't super-effective.


Mr. Fuji is actually Lance!? I have so many questions.

After rescuring Mr. Fuji-Lance, I made my way back to Celadon City and took the bike path on Route 17 down to Fuchsia City. My encounter for the route was...


HOLY BALLS IT'S MEWTWO. OK, SLOWLY WEAKEN IT, AND-

Anyway, there's actually a small patch of grass between the bike path gate and Fuchsia City, called "Route 18", so I got an extra chance to catch something. My encounter for the route was...


Pyroar! I caught him and named him Noble, but decided to stash him in the PC for later.


His moves are pretty good too.

As soon as I entered Fuchsia City, I made a beeline for the Safari Zone. Or, as much of a "beeline" as I could make - this place has too many goddamn fences.

When I entered, my first encounter was...


Simipour! Welp, we don't do repeats, gimme something else.


Makuhita! I caught him and named him Fatty because I don't give a single damn about this Pokémon. Straight into the box, give Noble a friend who's not dead lmao.


Oh god, he really is a Fatty. Look at him, sucking up all that HP.

The Safari Zone also contained some very good TMs.


Fire Spin and Recover are OP, let's use them.

After making my way through the Safari Zone more times than I can count, I manage to collect all the items I needed for the two new HMs, Surf and Strength. Also, the Safari Warden (guy who needs his teeth back) had an Escape Rope in his house. I think he needs someone to talk to.

Finally, after all that travelling around, I made it into the Fuchsia Gym.


Alright, let's see what kind of ninja disguise you can pull off...


...That's really convincing, it's almost as if you're actually a girl!

Anyway, Koga's team consisted of Kyurem, Gardevoir, Silcoon, and Eelektross. This team was actually pretty tough, especially with both Kyurem and Gardevoir, but I still didn't lose anyone! Once I had achieved victory, Koga handed me the Soul Badge and the TM for Toxic.


...Except the "TM for Toxic" seemed to be code-speak for this Secret Key. I wonder where it leads?

After leaving the Gym, I decided to grind my team's levels to be a bit more equal, since some members were pulling more weight than others, and then saved in the Pokémon Center in Fuchsia City once I was finished. Once Bloom-senpai catches up with me, we'll have our next battle!

 

ENTRY 6 - MARSH BADGE
​

Continuing off from last time, I decided to go through the routes between Fuchsia City and Lavender Town that I would've missed otherwise - Routes 15, 14, and 13. Since these routes were very boring and only used for encounters, I'll keep this short.


Route 15's encounter was Cryogonal, but I killed it.


Route 14's encounter was Bronzong, which I caught. I named it Liberty and placed it in the PC.


Route 13's encounter was Wartortle, which I caught. I named it Zen and put it in my party, replacing Flynn.

Now, back to the main journey! I headed straight to Saffron City, but I could not get a free Pokémon there as this randomised version of the game glitches and crashes when you try to collect either Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee, so no encounter.


The TM Psychic guy gave me TM Thunderbolt though!


Also, Zen evolved! Yaaay~

Before heading in to Saffron City's Gym, I needed to clear out the infestation of Rockets. So, I headed into Silph Co., where I was easily able to manouver around thanks to having already found the Card Key, which was given to me by an old man back in Celadon.


I did manage to pick up some more TMs in Silph Co. but none of them were really useful. (I have so many copies of Play Rough and not enough Pokémon that can learn the move.)


I totally forgot there was a rival fight here.

Anyway, I battled Senpai. Their team this time consisted of Bellsprout, Pidgeot, Lileep, Lilligant, and Wailmer, and I defeated them with ease.


I also got a free Igglybuff from a staff member in Silph Co. who usually gives you a Lapras. I named it Poof and put it into the PC.

Of course, I had to fight Giovanni again straight after. This time, his team consisted of Pidgeotto, Machamp, Sigilyph, and Swoobat, which wasn't a hard team to beat, but one of the stronger ones of this playthrough, with mostly fully-evolved Pokémon on his team. After I defeated him, the Silph Co. president gave me a gift - the world's most powerful capture device.


...or another TM for Thunderbolt. Hey, I'm not complaining!

Afterwards, I decided to fight Sabrina.


...who's a Bug Catcher.


AND ALSO LANCE.

Sabrina's team consisted of Umbreon, Hoppip, Conkeldurr, and someone else that I forgot. Once again, it was an easy win, and I actually got a TM from her along with my badge!


I didn't say it was a good TM.

Now, normally I'd end the journal here with a bit of grinding, but I felt as if it was a bit short, so I decided to make my way to Cinnabar and prepare for the next Gym with a few more encounters. My first encounter was on Route 21, south of Pallet Town. My encounter for the route was...


Noctowl! I caught him and named him Blathers, but didn't have a use for him so I stuck him in the PC.


His moves aren't all that great either.

My next encounter was in the Pokémon Mansion. For some reason, i felt as if I'd get either Mew or Mewtwo in here, because of the lore, so I made sure to stock up on Ultra Balls beforehand. My encounter for the area was...


HOLY HECK IT'S MEWTWO AGAIN!


AND I MANAGED TO CAPTURE HIM THIS TIME! I named him Salt, after the running joke that Mewtwos are salty in this game.


His moveset's not bad, but I can work on it.

Of course, I didn't need the Secret Key from the mansion to unlock the Cinnabar Gym, but I decided to explore anyway and collect some TMs.


The collection here was not great, but it'll have to do.

After exploring the Pokémon Mansion, I headed over to the Fossil Restoration Lab and revived both the Helix and Dome Fossils, since we're short 1 gift Pokémon from the Fighting Dojo glitch.


The Dome Fossil contained a Florges, which I named Laila, and the Helix Fossil contained a Pidgey, which I named Bird Jesus.


They're not bad Pokémon, but they're being boxed.

So, after grinding to raise all of my Pokémon to Lv. 55, I saved in front of he Cinnabar Gym, waiting to challenge it. As soon as Bloom-senpai poss her update, we'll battle, and then I'll fight Blaine!
