Sharks? In my ocean? It's more likely than you think.

Hundreds are shocked at an alarming new discovery - sharks live in the ocean! It's not just for humans. Due to this newfound knowledge, several beaches have temporarily closed down.

Personally, I'm appalled that a shark would dare to come up to where I want to swim, in its own home, and just... swim there! It's disgusting. It takes some nerve, too! Not only do they dare exist in the ocean, but they do it right next to a pier. People fish there, and I'm willing to bet these nasty creatures have the audacity to eat the local fish as well.

Is anyone else as outraged as sharks existing in the ocean, their natural habitat, as I am?

    Lol
Generally sharks don't mean to attack to humans, anyway, their diet is other sealife, it's just sometimes we mimic it.
But yeah, expecting that sharks don't be there is..silly

You may actually be surprised to hear that the ocean is not the only place than sharks can be found. There have been shark sightings reported in banks, in casinos, and sometimes even in offices - all of which appear to be initially innocuous to the untrained eye, but their effects can definitely be felt.

Nonetheless, with ocean and land sharks alike, it is simply the risk we must take and accept if we're to venture around those kinds of places. After all, sharks are predators by nature. Humans, not so much. People do find the food chain to be a frustrating system, especially when they happen to be entangled in it, intentionally or otherwise. But the most important point is to be aware of the risks of sharks in the locations where they appear - to be forewarned is to be forearmed, after all.

    We've been found out...
Although I can't help but say we were just as surprised to find out humans live on land. After all, we've been around longer than you guys... >_>

Can't tell if this is a tad bit serious or a clever crappost

What would prompt these hideous creatures to swim in our water? What monsters, closing down our beaches and eating the fish I wouldn't have eaten anyway!

(actually I agree with my sister, sharks are kinda cool. And we really don't have to worry since we live in a landlocked area of America, lol)

As an aussie sick of everyone screaming for more shark culls at beaches, I greatly appreciate the intensity of the sacarsm in this post. What's more annoying than anything is that people have a truly warped sense of death rates, the rate at which people die per year from sharks is probably in the single digit percentage compared to 1 in 3 women from domestic violence for example. There was a really good infographic for this actually where is it... oh I found it but it mentions mature themes (obviously), and I don't know if its ok to link it here or not but basically it says

a woman has a 262k in 1 chance of being killed by a shark but
a 1 in 6 chance of being assaulted (you know, in the worst way)
and yet we cull sharks when they can't really help but be in the water in the first place,
and only 16% or so of those humans reported from human to human attacks are actually imprisoned

Like there are others too, like getting hit by lightning, getting hit on the head by a coconut etc, and its annoying as heck that theres such a warped perception of death rates. Maybe it's the easiest death to imagine but it's not at all a common one. Also, you could, I don't know, stay out of the ocean if it worries you so much.
