Sometimes in Pokémon, the quest to gain a shiny Pokémon is a long one with a lot of resets. Some people hack their Pokémon, others just wait around and hope to encounter one eventually. If you're the hardcore guy who resets thousands of times just to get a shiny, this is the thread for you.

What is the record amount of times you have reset your system seeking a shiny? How many shinies have you obtained via the reset method? About when does your patience wear out, if at all? If you've successfully reset for a shiny, do you ever plan on enduring the pain again?

I've never reset for shinies much, I just like the patience and the incentive to spend that much time on it. I'm sorry that I'm such a failure to the shiny community :(.

I have obtained exactly zero shiny mons from resetting, I have never really tried. The shiny mons I've gotten are either by accident, chaining, hacked or Masuda. Kudos to those that wanna reset thousand of times to get a shiny tho, you just wont' see me doing it.

I have said several times that I would try resetting for a shiny, but truthfully I'm just not that patient. Plus I get distracted easily with that kind of stuff and I'd probably lose track and whatnot, ahaha. Maybe some day.

The same goes for me. I don't even know how to reset other than turning your 3ds on and off, ha ha. I don't really care about shinies though, mostly because the only different thing about a shiny is the color. If I ever need a shiny Pokémon, I'll ask someone to hack it for me. As Karz said, kudos to those who do like to get shinies through "fair" means, but I think I care too little about the effort put into that to do it myself.

While I have tried to get a shiny through resetting, I have yet to got one. I don't have the patience for it. Also, the shinies have lost their value over the generations, so I see even less reason to reset for them. Sure, if I desperately want shiny Pokémon, and there is no other way to get it shiny, I'll probably do it. Or just get someone else to do it for me

I don't reset for shinies. Seems like too much work for me. The shinies I have gotten have been through legit means, like chaining, accidental encounters, and random encounters. I'm trying to Masuda Method for a shiny, but nothing yet. *sigh*

You soft resets the 3DS mega, is really easy but is still tedious and boring as hell to reset for a shiny. If you're not a shiny collector is not really worth doing.

At most, I will try for up to 3 days before I give up resetting something, and I never got a shiny via resetting. I used to do the chaining for fishing all the time in X/Y, but I almost never do this in ORAS. Back in the late days of Gen 5, my friend reset his Platinum for three whole months just to get a shiny Giratina.

Then they released the event shinies :P

Oh lord, resetting for shinies. My record for the number of resets for a shiny definitely goes to my Rayquaza hunt in HeartGold- I SR'd for over 25,000 times before that sucker shone. It was worth it, though, I still have that Rayquaza to this day (even though I prefer regular Rayquaza's colors because green, the shiny is still pretty rad).

Overall, I've lost count of how many shinies I've reset for. It's definitely a decent handful, though- probably between 40 and 80. I don't really keep track, and I'm not going through my huge shiny collection to count, haha. My patience very rarely wears out in general- sometimes I take breaks in hunts, but I don't think I've ever truly given up a hunt. My one tip for people who like to reset for shinies is to do something else while resetting- I typically watch videos or movies while resetting so it's not as tedious.

I'll definitely be resetting for shinies in the future once I get back to playing Pokémon, it's a lot of fun and a good way to pass the time!

I have attempted resetting for shiny Pokémon before, but I've only had relatively good success with it once with a Treecko in Pokémon Emerald and it took around 300 or so resets. Resetting with the Gameboy Advance SP was super easy so it actually wasn't that bad and I still think I was really lucky to only have to reset that much for one. Other times I have used resets to get shiny Legendaries, like Cresselia (I don't even remember the number of attempts it took but it took AGES), but only if I really want them. It takes quite a lot longer to reset with games on the DS handheld and so forth, so it becomes more of a pain in my opinion. Nowadays if I want to get a shiny, I just use the masuda method, but if it's a legendary I'll reset a couple of times to test my luck and then probably just give up around the 50th attempt or somewhere around that. XD

I never resets for shinies. If i get one that's good if not then okay. I like shinies but i am not a collector and that's why i never resets my game for them.

I've started a couple of resets but I usually end up quitting really early. I really don't have enough patience to sit there that long. I usually just like to find shinies randomly and haven't hunted for them for over a year now.

I've tryed a lot, but I give after 500 or so, and thus I have none through resets that I've done, gotten some that other people have done by trade :)
