Today I had to do a lot of pondering about my current life situation, particularly in regards to my occupation. Because of a lot of factors that came up, I was given a lot more work for the immediate time being, and my long-term tenability with my job was also called into question. Being in the position I'm in now, I'm not sure about whether I should keep pursuing this job, or realise when it is time to stop and move elsewhere.

As I arrived to start this morning, when I was about to log in to a shared workstation, the words "RUN. NOW." were written in the username field, on a computer that I'd picked entirely at random. I can't say how strong of a warning that might be, but given how I sit in a different spot every day, I don't want to outright dismiss that potential message yet, especially seeing how it was oddly specific.

Do you believe in small signs like these, seemingly insignificant events that might not mean much to others, but may hold a lot of significance or meaning for you if they're placed right into your path, perhaps as a premonition of things that might happen to you in the future?

I think your receiving of that particular message may have been random, but I am not going to underestimate the strength of a psychological correlation between such a random event and an interpreted message. It's kind of like dreams: explain the same dream to any number of psychologists and you'll get just as many different explanations of what the dream means. That doesn't make it any less significant, just that even randomness can have an effect on the mind.

Once upon a time I was out to dinner with a now-ex girlfriend, and we were a little bit in a state of passion-less-ness. Occasionally I would have a thought of "why am I still here?", every few days. Not anything particularly bad, but nothing keeping us together either. Anyway, shortly after we take our seats at the restaurant, a nearby table to us is taken by another couple who look strangely like us. Not our twins, but stunt doubles maybe. And in them I saw a vision of our future: a soul-dead just-staying-together not enjoying each other's presence, borderline contemptible dynamic. So I look back to my date and say "why are we here?", to which she replies that she doesn't know (at least her answer wasn't "because I'm not in a mood for spicy food"), and for that moment I felt a spark again, because she knew what I was asking, but I know better than to ride a small glimmer like that. We talked and came to a decision to euthanize our relationship. It was absolutely the right decision.

All because one day we went out to dinner, a couple who looked like us sat at a table close to us.
