I don't know how relevant Skyrim really is anymore since it's been out for so long now, but I started replaying it recently so I thought I'd make a thread for it. Each time I make a new character, I try to play the game a little differently, usually centering around the personality I assign a character. My main characters so far have been a roguish Khajiit with a strong sense of loyalty, a benevolent Argonian who works primarily as a blacksmith and fights with heavy armor and weapons, and, my newest one, a Redguard mage specializing so far in destruction, alteration, and restoration magic. Here's my problem though. I've played roguish and heavy armor characters before, but this is my first ever mage character. Aside from "she's a mage" I'm not sure what makes this character unique. Skyrim is such a large world, so what should I work for outside of the College of Winterhold? So I thought, why not make a challenge format, both for my own sake and as something that other people could use for their own play throughs? I've made this outline for challenge ideas if anyone's interested. If you end up using it, post your own character outline(s) in this thread. I'd love to see them! The spacing right now is a little weird and I'm not sure why, but it's getting late, so I might just fix it tomorrow. Spoiler: Skyrim challenge outline Rules: You must set an overarching challenge that significantly effects your overall play style. For an added challenge when designing your character, try to be as lore friendly as possible. Your character must have a set type of armor they wear at all times and a specified weapon (or weapons in the case of two single hand weapons). They can also have a "sub" weapon they switch out to on occasion, most likely bows for long range. All magic counts as a single weapon. Your character must have a career that may be interlinked with your challenge, but should be considered its own stand alone part of the challenge with its own separate goal. The fun part is the way that random events might occur during your play through. Any significant events that take place can be used as a reason to change your play through challenge, as long as it's done in a logical way. Of course, you can make any modifications to the rules that you want, as long as you consistently play by the rules you set for yourself. There have been more story development events than the one I listed, but this is just the short version for the example. I'd be really interested to see the sorts of challenges that other people come up with since mine are pretty basic. If enough people post their own challenge ideas, others would be able to try them out too. And if anyone can help me out with the play through I've recently started, here's what I have so far using my own format.
