Sm4sh tournament interest check.

So, I was watching the Pound 2016 Smash tournament and I saw something that I thought was quite interesting. It was a battle type called "Crew Battle". However, this was exclusive to Melee brackets and not other versions of the game (which is quite reasonable). However, I'd be interested to try and do it on Lake Valor with Sm4sh, given you can actually play that online reasonably (although lag will be an issue sometimes).

Anyway, I'm going to organize this with [member='Nate'], so the absolute rules are going to be finalised soon. Basically, given that Sm4sh is generally a lot slower than Melee, where this is usually done, I'm thinking 3 stocks per match with four players. Legal Stages will be Battlefield, Final Destination, Town and City, Smashville, Lylat Cruise, Dreamland and Duck Hunt. I know that Duck Hunt is banned in a few communities (my local weekly banned Duck Hunt, much to my dismay, after a Ryu player was able to camp with no risk on the stage), but we need a pick of seven stages, and Duck Hunt is still a better pick than Umbra Clock Tower.

The basic format of each match will be this: both teams choose their first person to participate in the battle blindly. I'm not sure if we'll be able to have a capture card or recording to Livestream or something, but we will try to have something that allows people to observe the matches afterwards. These two crew members will face off with three stocks in standard competitive format. However, after the first match, the winner faces off against the next member, who is decided by the rest of the crew. The winner however, has to SD to get to the amount of stocks they ended on in the previous game. The matches continue until all four players on one side are eliminated.

Now, stages will be counterpicked by the loser, and the first pick will be decided by a coin toss (or something that we can do asynchronously). However, each stage that is picked cannot be picked by any other players after it is used for the duration of that crew battle. All members of a crew much use the same character. I'm debating whether me or [member='Nate'] will join as well to make sure everything goes right (and possibly save replays) but obviously lag will be an issue. However, it will make it easier for us to have proper blindpicks and only the two of us have to add people to our friends lists. I will also discuss whether we have a ban on the character Bayonetta or any other characters.

So, basically, here is what I need people to do. If you are interested, please give your NNID, your gamertag (what you would enter competitions with) and what your Sm4sh mains and secondaries are. When we get enough people that likely no one else will be joining, we will pool together everyone's nominations for characters they play and if there are 3 or 4 at least of any characters, we will then have everyone compete Hunger Games style for which crew they are in me and [member='Nate'] will figure out how to sort people into teams.

Alright, [member='✯Ho-OhLugia✯'], [member='8542Madness'], [member='BiohazardSr'] and [member='Phyxture'] I just wanted to do a quick update. I'm going to agree with Nate on this one and say that Bayonetta will no be banned. He is right that there probably won't be enough players on LV who main Bayo anyway for there to be a team of Bayos, and learning the matchup certainly is important for everyone.

On another separate note, I will be adding a tally in the op to show what people have nominated. This way we can keep track of what people have done in a more concise way that is easier to see.

Also, [member='Nate'] I know it's just a formality, and I know you play pretty much everyone in ZeRo's top tier bracket, but do you mind signing up, just so I'm sure. Also, I apologize if every time I update the OP it notifies you...

 

Don't worry about it, Time Zones are probably going to screw a lot of people over. Trust me, my and Ho-ohLugia's Time Zones are going to be fun to deal with. As for Mains/Secondaries, just put down who you play the most.

 

So, it looks like we almost have a team of Roy or Dark Pit, but everyone who plays Dark Pit plays Roy, so we won't have one crew if we have the other.

If I put a meme name for a character, then it's not that I hate the character, I'm just having a little fun with the tally. If and when this does actually go up, I will put actual names on the list, not meme names.
