Smash 5 was announced! What are your hopes and expectations?

I'm fairly interested to see who the "Mewtwo" of this Smash game would be.

 

I'm hoping it's actually Smash 5 instead of a port of Smash 4, though I'm betting it's the latter.

 

It wouldn't make sense for it to be a port when Smash 4 is still perfectly playable on the 3DS, imo.

 

I think it's Smash 5.

As for my hopes, all I really want is Dark Samus and Rex as new characters, and Wolf to return. I'm also fully expecting Ice Climbers to make a return.

 

How many people do you know actually play the 3DS version? Everywhere I go, it's panned by fans.

The logo looks more like the Smash 4 than it does any of the others. Also, sources?

 

As of recently, not a whole lot. Makes sense this way since it was released four years ago, so it's only natural for the hype to wane over the years.

However, back when Smash 3DS was at its peak relevance? A TON of people were into it, dude. Like, everyone up to their mom and grandmother were into it. I'm not sure where you get the idea that it was unpopular.

 

I had the 3DS version, but at least on boards and whatnot would always say that the WiiU one was superior. I always had trouble finding people to play with, locally or online.

 

I'm fairly positive Pit from Kid Icarus will return, but just in case I'm hoping he does. I also kinda wish Palutena will return as well, if possible. And maybe bring in Hades and Viridi as guest voices; they were a riot in Uprising. Not hoping so much for Dark Pit though - at least make him a re-skin this time.

...Now I kinda wish they'll make a new Kid Icarus game in the future. Maybe not this year, but someday. Uprising was great.

 

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let there be more Metroid Characters than just Samus. Or at least have DLC in the future when Prime 4 comes out. TT

 

I think we need more TLOZ characters. We need Ganon's final smash to be like bowsers. He turns into Calamity Ganon. We need Silver and Knuckles to be in, Lucas isn't DLC anymore, and last but not least, add a new game to the series. We... need... CENTIPEDE!

 

I honestly think we've gotten plenty of TLOZ, haven't we? Ganon, Zelda, (Toon) Link, Sheik... that's five characters (again, counting Toon Link) from one franchise alone, which is far more of a representation than what most other series get in Smash bar maybe Pokémon characters? And probably Star Fox.

I can't see anyone relevant from Breath of the Wild in Smash unless you want the old Champions to be included which would be fairly interesting in itself but really hard to justify their inclusion.

Personally hoping they get rid of the dupe characters like Dark Pit and Toon Link. Just make that skins, I want new fighters darn it. (Also they need to keep Robin in Smash)

 

I'm already thrilled to know the inklings are going to be in the upcoming Smash! I think for the most part, I hope they bring back a quality adventure mode and condense the roster so that clones can be selected as other "outfit" options, similar to how all the Koopa Kids were under Bowser Jr.'s character slot. I think it would be more resourceful to have more character selections than recolors of the same character as well.

 

I hope Ice Climbers are back in the game! And I hope Sakurai doesn't nerf my two mains (Pikachu and Kirby) too much. I remember that I almost gave up on Smash 4 when it first released because it felt like the two of them were super underpowered and because of that they weren't really fun to play.
