Gameplay Journal Smithy's Pandora's Box of Memes Rivallocke

Greetings peasants, and welcome to my playthrough of a randomized Pokémon Red. I will be doing a nuzlocke, the rules apply as soon as I get Pokeballs. I'll try to quickly go through the things that happened before I started the actual nuzlocke. I'm rivalling with DrGetus and we're battling before every gym. (Except this one battle- we just battled at lvl 11)

The title screen foreshadows what is to come. Here we go.



Oh no... I have a feeling we weren't supposed to see this side of Professor Oak... He's secretly part of Team Rocket.



I picked a name that embodies my sense of adventure. I also named my rival "Getus."



Oh, cool! Mom is a chef! Looks like her home cooking won't taste like chemicals and radioactive waste this time around! (reference to my short-lived last playthrough RIP)



Oh and Professor Oak is now a girl. That's fine, more power to ya! Now they're leading me down to the lab and--



Huh. My rival looks like a regular trainer now. Sweet. Alright, time to pick a starter! Ok, three choices-





Well, obviously I'm gonna pick Beldum. I'm also gonna nickname it "Stab." Why? No reason.



Aww, his battle sprite is bo-- OH MY GOD



WHAT IS THIS!? LANDORUS!? Needless to say I got destroyed in one shot. I didn't enjoy that rival battle.



Well, this is the first encounter. Neat. The nuzlocke hasn't started yet though, so this one doesn't count. Other Pokémon in this route- Simipour, Nosepass, Masquerain, Foongus, and Dialga. Yeah, just casually. Dialga. My Beldum only knows sky attack. Oh boy. I leveled up my Beldum to level 11 for my battle with Getus. I also caught my second Pokémon.



I farmed that one up to level 11 as well and it learned Explosion and Night Shade.



All, right I'm ready for my battle with Getus!

Alright, time to catch a new Pokémon! What will it be?



Ooh, a Mudkip! I promised Getus I'd name my next Pokémon Norn Iron so... there. Alright, time to train him up and challenge Brock's gym! Norn Iron knows Draining Kiss, Bind, and Skull Bash.



No comment. Alright, let's-- NO! NORN IRON! NOT YOU TOO! Well, ladies and gentlemen... looks like we have not one, but two deaths.

I was afraid Nosepass was gonna die too. A wipeout this early would be anticlimactic. I need to show Getus I can easily beat down his Pokémon!





Nosepass... my only remaining Pokémon... let's do this.

I got the TM for Poison Fang. Can't really use it though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I found a master ball just lying around. Again, just casually lying around. A master ball. I wasted my ultra ball on a Beartic but there's no way in hell I'll be wasting my master ball. I also did some leveling up so I can breeze through this area.



So Team Rocket is full of middle-aged men. Ok.



Praise Helix. I also got the TM for Thunder.



Meuseless isn't meuseless at all! Damn! He even learned Draining Kiss later on!


Alright, time for my battle with Getus. In my infinite mercy I leveled up my Pokémon to level 23 because I felt it'd be unfair to match his level since he only has one Pokémon.
