A traditional artist's worst nightmare: smudging. Whether it be your hand brushed across a part of your drawing and smudged it, or you somehow get pencil/marker/etc on your hand and lay it down on the picture and ruin it. How do you guys combat smudging? I combat smudging because I never do traditional art. Inktober is an absolute nightmare because my ink always smudges no matter how long I wait for it to dry. I have seen artists wear gloves that cover that portion of their hand so nothing smears.
I need to look around for artist gloves, for now I keep pencil lines thin enough to avoid un-eraseable smudges. They're still there, but I can erase them better than usual..
I draw exclusively with pencil, so smudging is something that I deal with all the time. Fortunately, the fact that I don't use pens ever (I have a bad history with them) means that I can usually erase my smudge marks. I've found that kneaded erasures are really good for it since you can form them into whatever shape you need, meaning that I can erase smudge marks that I wouldn't be able to get with a normal erasure without accidentally erasing my lines as well.
