In both OU and UU, I've been using Mega Pidgeot for some time now. Its a pretty decent Pokémon, even though it does require some team support. I learned something during that time:

IMO, there's almost no point in having Roost... at least not in OU. Sure, it lets you recover some HP, but between a Not-so-Good defensive typing, average 80/80/80 bulk, and No Guard being a double-edged sword, you find that you actually have very few opportunities to Roost up. I find that 99% of the time, I'd much rather be either spamming Hurricane/Heat Wave or using U-Turn to pivot out against a bad match-up or a predicted switch. Its generally why I run HP Fighting/Ground over Roost.

Of course, it's my opinion on it, and some of you might disagree, which is fine. That being said, let this post be a discussion about Mega Pidgeot and his mighty Super Saiyan hair.

Oh how mighty that Super Saiyan hair is.
Still does not compare to the Super Saiyan levels of Mega-Manectric though. XD

Regardless, I believe I do understand your disposition with Roost in OU. Honestly I feel like a ton of people are too dependent on these Healing abilities for their high damage dealers such as Mega Pidgeot. However the use of HP Ground/Fighting is rather brilliant in my opinion to replace Roost with. Good ideas there!

I've never used a Made Saiyan Bird, though I've considered it before. I can imagine it not working well with roost, given that you can't hope that a stone edge will miss in that turn you are giving up. As for hidden powers, I'd imagine ground or fighting being really helpful. Ground is personally one of my favorite hp's to use, along with ice in many cases.

If I was going to use a Mega Saiyan Bird, I'm guessing I'd go with all speed and special attack since roost apparently doesn't work well. Though wait, U turn is physical. Hmm. @TrippleAAABattery do you usually put anything into its physical attack, since it only benefits with that on U-turn?

Nope. I use U-Turn strictly to pivot out, not to do damage, which is why I keep Mega Pidgeot's Nature as Timid, too.

Ahh, makes sense. I remember using a mixed samurott and having to sacrifice one of my defenses to keep both attacks and my speed on good levels. Even without investment it's still good to have that momentum, I'd guess.
