Social media

I do not like social media sites apart from certain Pokémon Forums (two only, actually) such as this one. I believe that what different people on social media post 'brainwashes' children. I despise the effects of social media onto children of this generation, making them want to be popular, which sometimes results in disrespect and rebelliousness, both of which are terrible. Seeing what social media has done to young people, I would tend to avoid it. However, it does not always have this effect, and I would like to acknowledge people who use social media responsibly, and do not allow it to force them into wrong behaviour. It is mainly adults who seem to use it appropriately. Regardless, I will always try to avoid as much social media as I can, as it leads to risks of cyber-bullying and media pressure.

As for me personally, I do not have any popular social media account apart from Lake Valor and another forum site. Here, it is friendly, and we can all have friendly interactions even if people tend to let of a little steam or swear whenever they feel like they must do so. Unlike major social media sites, there isn't much chance of cyberbullying, spam or nasty messages, as we are a community and build strong friendships even behind a screen. Other social media sites I find their purposes more fitting to a social lifestyle or work.

 

I've got a twitter account. Don't do much with it, I just follow things.
You know about Facebook, right? Well, I don't like it. I know it's weird to hate something I don't know anything about, and I don't usually do it, but I hate Facebook. I don't know why.

I don't really know about any other social medias >.>

 

Apart from LV, the only other form of social media I use is Instagram. I have two accounts; one for my general posting, news feed and giveaways, while the other serves as a back-up and a roleplay account. I'm actually quite popular on Instagram, my main account just reaching 900 Followers. But apart from that, I don't have anything else.

As for how often I use it, I like to make an effort to check and update my social media accounts every day, but some days I'm just so tired or busy that I only check once and completely forget until it's too late.

 

I'm on a lot of social media sites, so I'll just say the highlights. My least favourite would probably be Twitter, since I just don't know how you're supposed to use it. I only really use facebook because everyone I know IRL is on it. This forum and another forum for Australian bronies are tied for my favourite, with tumblr being my second favourite. Deviantart is probably my 3rd favourite. Reddit's cool, but I only use it for looking at other people's stuff rather than contribute myself. Same goes for YouTube (I go on youtube a lot more than Reddit though).

 

My first social media platform was Google+ which I still use to this day, I used it to access the various Pokémon communities and also posted stuff. Most of which I still do today though now I mod and own several communities. I usually post a single Pokémon related thing daily in one if the communities, been trying to get the most followers since I contested with my friend a few years back, which I won. Currently have reached almost 2000 followers. I solely use this site to follow pages/communities and to post things of my interests, never have I posted anything personal, nor do I intend to.

Facebook is another, I hardly post anything (unlike G+) because I only follow pages of my interest, and the only people I add as friends are those who I've met IRL. Its more of a personal account because it does have photos (tagged into by friends) and because of that I'll never add random people. Again I've never posted pics that I've taken myself (don't really like it >.<)

 

I use Snapchat, but that's it. I never had the urge to use any of the other ones.

 

I'm a sucker for social media xP I currently have around 5 accounts (not including forums) I frequently use. Where I live, it's somewhat essential to keep in touch with others (I use sites like Facebook/Messenger to keep in touch with some online friends) and platforms like Instagram daily with friends from school. It's magical, when used properly. Though, I've seen it get pretty ugly quickly >.>

 

I do use social media, but very little. I use Facebook the most, but it's mainly just to chat with some of my peers.

Of course, LV is the exception! LV is love, and LV is life.

i think that's just how teens and stuff tend to be... i mean, you can have your views, i can have mine, but i don't think the desire to be popular among youth is anything new.

 

Haven't teens always been disrespectful and rebellious? Lol

 

I have a tumblr for internet friends and face book for "real life" friends, tho lately I got some online ones there too.

 

I only actively use Twitter. I like tumblr a little bit too but not huge on the community at large there. It's alright though.

 

I used to Facebook, but I did it wrong. Ultimately my time there sucked. Most of the people I had listed were just acquaintances who I honestly don't care about at all, I didn't keep up with the structure of it (a personality trait of mine makes me immune to a lot of virals), and generally I don't want to look back at my facebook. I haven't logged in for a few years, and I don't plan to.

I'm thinking about making a new Facebook account though, mostly for the event-planning and communications aspect of it, not to invite creepsters and wall-stalkers of every one of my fellow students and coworkers. Okay, I might end up having like just 20-40 people there, but that will be fine with me. I'd rather have that number of people I do remotely care about than have four digits of "friends" who I mostly have no regard for. And when I do, I will only ever access it from a sandboxed virtual browser on my self-built non-W10 computer that never accesses any other sites in that browser, never on any other browser or device. Facebook: I do not like you. You provide a service that is, unfortunately, quite necessary in today's society, so I will use that service, but I will make every effort not to let you and your tentacles into my life or onto my computer.

As far as the others go: Instagram, Twitter, etc? I have no interest in those. I'm not a selfie-taker or photographer, and I don't have countless fans (yet) to interface with, so I have no use for either of those. Also I still have no idea what a tumblr or a reddit is, somebody help, I think I'm developing geriatria.
