Chapter 1: New Hero and New Journey

"Sophie? Sophie? Wake up, darling! You don't want to miss your training today!" I heard my mother call. I groaned. There was no way I wanted to get up today. I was too tired from yesterday's training.

'This is how to use a Pokéball!' or, 'This is how to battle!' We made this a daily thing, battling nonstop, as well as the fact that I had to train with Eevee each day, running, swimming, dodging obstacles. Annoying much? Eevee barley even listens to me!

    "Sophie!" My mom yelled again.

"Coming!" I cried weakly. I rubbed my eyes, yawning, and my eyes watered.

"Sophie! Get dressed quickly! Mr. Deterson is already here!" My mom warned.

I got on my training gear, which was an ugly, orange and long sleeved shirt, beige jeans, and gross, muddy brown boots. I hate it, and it's incredibly hot in Hoenn!

My mom signed me up for this so that way I could be ready when it's time to go on my journey. It was unfair how we settled it though. Eevee and I used to be really good friends when we were younger. I started training at 5, along side her.
Great friend, Eevee was. After we began training, she hardly played with me. She thought that it was my fault that we were stuck in this situation. We had to run 5 miles every day. My mom didn't care. She said it was good for me, instead of me training in my preferred way. Watching live broadcasts of Pokémon battles that had Pokémon like Garchomp, Marshtomp, Ampharos, and Heracross! They were all so diligent and obedient. Not to mention their impressive attack varieties! I didn't know that Heracross could learn such a move as Sleep Talk! It was so cool!

Mom saw me everyday on that couch with Watchog, cheering for the Elite Four, or the Sinnoh League Champion, Cynthia. It was too cool to be true!

I ran downstairs to find my mom was only playing with me. Watchog was sitting at the table, eating his Pokémon food. Mom was cooking eggs and ham, served on slices of buttered toast. Delectable!

I dug in without thinking to scold my mom for playing the trick. Instead, she scolded me as we exchanged looks.

"Honey! You would have been late if it were true that he was here already!" Mom yelled.

"But he wasn't actually here, so you couldn't tell," I muffled through a mouth full of eggs.

"Not the point, Sophie!" She interfered.

"Look," She wiped her forehead from the steam of the pan.

"Please go over to Mr. Deterson's and everything will be just fine. You done with your plate?"

"Yes," I said, grabbing my backpack.

"Then clean it up before you go." She suddenly commanded.

I almost tripped to try and find my way to twist around. I cleaned it up quick like and I allowed Watchog to lick the plate clean while my mom wasn't looking.

But she caught me somehow. "Nah ah ah, Missy! Or I'll have you eat his food while he eats yours,"

    I whined, "No! Please don't!"

"Then hurry on your way. Here's your lunch, Sophie. This way you won't forget it again." She rolled her eyes.

"Alright then! Love ya, Mom! Bye!" I walked out the door and closed it before my mom could say the same back to me. She always added something like, "My sweetheart," or, "Lovebug," at the end of it, which gave me the chills for some reason. Most likely embarrassment.

"YAAARRR!" I heard someone yell. I ran over to the sound of the scream. "Help! HELP!"

    "Professor Birch?!" I yelled.
