With X and Y came brand-new 3D Pokémon models, replacing the more than decade-old sprites some of us did (and didn't) love. Below are some examples of Pokémon and their transitions from Black/White 2 sprites to 3D models:

How did you feel about X/Y incorporating 3D models into the game? Would you rather have played through Kalos with sprites or were you happy with this change?

It was nice, and I liked it alot ^_^. However, I'll always love the old sprites more <3

You know, I was actually pretty sad that Pokémon was moving away from sprites and to 3D Models. I normally think 3D models look really chunky, especially for cartoony stuff. And I absolutely love sprites, I don't know why really... a year or so ago I got pretty darn into "spriting" aka manipulating sprites and creating sprites from scratch, I think it's a great art form and they're always super adorable <3

So, when I found out X&Y was going to have 3D Models instead, I was pretty disappointed.

However, when I actually saw them I got over it, for the most part. They're quite well done! I still miss sprites, very much, but I think they did a lovely and clean job with the 3D Models and it's actually really good to see Pokémon growing and improving.

I personally see it as a necessary change considering how far they games have come, and since they're on the 3DS now, it only makes sense to make them into 3D models.
Plus, I like seeing the little swayed movements they make as a 3D model. ^_^

I personally like the sprites a little better since there was more movement though I do realize what an improvement it was to use 3D models. I do miss the sprites a lot since they were really cute, but I mean change can be good. :)

The 3D models were a great change, although I didn't like some of them, there are a few cases where I think the sprite looked better.

I'm satisfied with the way they look, but I'll always like sprites more. Though I guess it would be strange to have those sprites running around in a world where everything else is 3D.

I honestly really hate the 3D Models. They look really blocky and too flat, for 3D. The Pokémon look like they're made out of putty now. Sprites will always be my choice.

I really love the 3D sprites, and most of them look really cool! Of course, there are a few exceptions (Purrloin, what in the world did they do to you???), but overall, it's a really cool change :D

I don't mind the change, the 3D models look pretty good to me except for a few strange ones (Archeops, Purrloin) but I prefer the old animated sprites. I feel like they have more "character" in their idle movement like Buizel spinning its tail in its BW sprite as opposed to the XY model, where it just stands there. The sprites are also more colourful while the 3D models look rather pale in comparison.

But, I love the fact that every single Pokémon has their own attack animation even though some of them are kinda weird (Mega Blastoise shoots Hydro Pump out of its mouth while it should have come out of its cannon).

So basically I prefer the 3D models. It's like a breath of fresh air after seeing sprites for so long :)

I like the 3D models! I wish they colors had paled less though, but seeing how far the Pokémon games have come, I think the upgrade was necessary.

    3D models are good.

Like a lot of posters the shift gave me anxiety but that all melted away when I saw the models. They look gorgeous. I've heard that the xerneas model had 11,000 polygons. Which is impressive. Solid Snake has fewer polygons. This game is sooooo hi res it's freaky

I'm a stickler for the 3D models. While the sprites are classic Pokémon, I think the models channel and display the 3DS's power quite aptly.

I also think it just gives the Pokémon just that extra bit of life!

It's one of the best aspects(along with megas and the new trio of starters) of an otherwise "mediocre" game.

The 3D models simply look awesome. But i think that the Sprites are, were and will be better by the simple fact that they are the version more loyal to my memories.

I miss the sprites but it would have happened sooner or later that they would switch to 3D models since we've seen for years before XY was release that they were fully capable of doing so.

I like the 3D models considering is the first time they turn a handheld Pokémon game into 3D like this I think is pretty good, but I think I'll always miss the sprites a little. The sprites were getting good imo considering where they started. They'll also be a part of Pokémon even if they're no longer part of the games the history with them is just rooted too deep for them to be forgotten.

Much prefer the models. Mostly considering if they still had sprites, Pokémon Amie would likely be a complete catastrophe. (Remember the poffin eating scene from Platinum?)
I'm so glad they changed to 3D models. I still like sprites, don't get me wrong. But the models are way easier to be animated.

Compare the BW Sprites' animations to the XY Models' animations:
    [IMG] Vs. [3D='taillow']
    [IMG] Vs. [3D='vulpix']
    [IMG] Vs. [3D='lucario]
    [IMG] Vs. [3D='absol']
The models have MUCH smoother animation, as well as more realistic coloration and lighting. Top that off with complete move animations, what's not to love?

This was a very easy transition forward for me, but I feel bad because the transition backwards will always be painful now. I loved the old sprites, but the 3D molds blow them out of the water. R.I.P. 2D sprites, you will always have a place in my heart.

I like both, but I think the 3D models are my favorite. It's a decent update to the Pokémon series and they seem more alive because their movement is more fluid. :)
