Gen 2 squidoodle does first nuzlocke

so yeah im doing my first ever nuzlocke on Pokémon silver! yayyy!

classic rules. first Pokémon on route, no duplicates, Pokémon fainting equals dead, and of course nicknames.

silver because lugia is awesome.

naming myself squidy, of course.

one painful tutorial later, i get my totodile named toothache.

first ever encounter is a hoothoot! no pokeballs yet, but good training for toothache.

one dead hoothoot is an experience, and two is a level up. .v.

• After getting a few pokeballs, I was set. The Pokémon from the first route that I caught was...a ratata, that I named "ew rat". I admit I maaaay have killed it on purpose while trying to weaken a hoothoot in the route past Chesma Town. I caught said Hoothoot, named it Owl Power. and threw the first death into the PC.
• In the Dark Cave, I caught my next Pokémon, a Dunsparce called Rage. I called it that because it almost killed my totodile and hoothoot by using Rage, but I luckily managed to catch it before anybody died.
• I named my Rival Gladion, because edge and I couldn't think of anything better.
• I absolutely MURDERED the sprout tower, but couldn't catch anything in it, since my first encountrr was a Gastly. All of my Pokémon at that point only had Normal Moves, so I couldn't do anything to it. Gengar is so cool too...rip ;-;
• Before taking on Violet Gym, I went onto the route ahead and completed the Kabuto Puzzle. I even managed to catch myself an Unown C, named...well C. I'm so creative, aren't I? XD
• I probably overprepared for the Violet Gym. I absolutely DESTROYED it.

To recap, here's my team:

• Lvl 8 Hoothoot (Owl Power)
• Lvl 9 Dunsparce (Rage)
• Lvl 5 Unown (C)
• Lvl 13 Totodile (Toothache)

 

Another update time! To start, I got the egg from the scientist in the Pokémon center. Togepi will be a cool addition. (i'm calling it now the egg becomes togepi)

My catch in the route past Violet Town is...Ekans! Or so I'd like to say if I wasnt oUT OF POKEBALLS. CURSE YOU GASTLYYYY!! ARBOK IS COOL TOO!!!!!!

Owl Power almost died to a fishers magikarp, but I brought Toothache out. But Rage died to a Goldeen...RIP ;-;

and my entire team is weak. i'm dead meat aren't i...

AN EKANS! YAYYY!!! I KINDA SORTA FORGIVE THE GASTLY!!! NOT REALLY HONESTLY!!!

Ekans is caught! I dub thee...Snek.

• caught zubat in slowpoke well
• defeated bugsy on second attempt (may the scyther burn in the distortion world)
• caught drowzee on the path to goldenrod city
• traded for the machop
• omellete the togepi hatched

is that it? i think thats it.

also i did my first soft reset in this because of bugsy's sTUPID SCYTHER--

anyway see ya after i figure out how to go past the guard in the radio tower...

 

Ok, I'm adding a few house things, to make this a bit softer for me.

*If I encounter a Pokémon I already have, I have the OPTION to look for another one.

*I can look for another one if the wild poke runs from battle (Curse you, Abra!)

*I release dead Pokémon, mostly because changing boxes in the older games is longer then it should be

snuck onto route 35 to catch another addition to the team while training: Nidoran Male! I now have KingKong! Nidoran was my second encounter. Stupid abra...Anyway, Nidoran both helps the third of my team weak to electric, but now another third is weak to psychic. Speaking of, I swapped Togepi out. Next to go out is either C or snek. Nidoran even has double kick, sure to be helpful in the coming gym match as a backup for Machop.

This kid tries to impress his girlfriend. I beat said kid easily enough. Then I beat his girlfriend. Even easier. Level 18 Machop, Level 13 Nidoran...am I ready?...yyyeah. BUT THIS TIME I'M SAVING BEFORE THE MATCH. I'M ACTUALLY GONNA DO A SMART. TIME TO BEAT WHITNEY...hopefully...

oh arceus that clefairy is level 18 this was a bad idea...yyyep rollout murdered machop and nidoran. i just plain soft resetted at that point...i'll try again after I, to quote snowboundbecca, "grind like hell."

New strat: Have hoothoot use hypnosis.

Aaand hoothoot died horrifically. Soft reset again. I'm doing this some other time...in the meantime, any tips?

*Caught Sudowoodo on Route 36. Got rid of Snek.
*Reached Ectureak City.
*Beat Kimono Girls. Got Surf.
*accidently erased toothaches bite for surf gg me least it learns crunch later

aaand thats it i think

 

and the next gym is ghost, too. least in the early games most ghost types are part poison, so sudowoodo can throw rocks like heck.

 

apparently you're not allowed to soft reset so i've given up

might try x another time though
