@Sugar "Sprains occur when a muscle or joint is twisted in an unnatural way." Nurse Joy explained. "For now, just rest." The Chansies wrapping the wounded area in gauze proved her point.
Sophie saw no use in asking any more questions, so she looked up at the ceiling while she was worked on. Hopefully she could recover in due time.
@Sugar Sophie being injured meant that her chance to be in the show could very well be in danger. While a sprain typically wasn't a serious injury, she would be off her feet for a while.
Sophie wouldn't let a twisted ankle keep her down, even if it should. After all, there was plenty she could do while she waited for her ankle to heal. She really needed to catch up on her flute practice, since she hadn't pacticed in abotu a week or so.
@Sugar (Ash could teach her different types of flutes, some other wind instruments, or a few stringed instruments.)
(Sophie would love to try all three of those, but if she had to choose, she'd like to try out diffeent types of flutes.)
@Sugar Ash peeked in Sophie's room a day or so later. "How's the leg doing?" he asked as he set a gig bag near the bed. He next produced a get well card signed by the show cast from one pocket. "Everyone on the cast and crew is thinking of you."
"It's still recovering, but I'm feeling fantastic." Sophie seemed unusually happy for someone who could've easily fractured or broke her ankle. But that's just how Sophie was, not complaining about any sort of pain. "How's the show coming along? It's been a while since I heard an update on it."
@Sugar "Your understudy is learning your role well, and if needed, she will cover for you when we open." Ash explains. "An injury will not end your chance to perform--the director has made it clear that she will not replace you, but that you will rejoin us onstage when you are ready and cleared by Nurse Joy to return."
"Good, I had a lot in faith in her from the beginning. I'm not in a rush to get back onstage anyway. In fact, I have a good amount of peace and quiet now to play a song on my flute. What song to play in a medical bay, I don't know, but something to help the patients stay upbeat sounds splendid right now."
@Sugar "I figured you'd be lonely being away from the stage, so I came by to visit." Ash explained. "Brock should be by later with some meals, so you don't have to cook while you recover." (Sophie does have a walking cast so she can practice strengthening her leg)
(Oh, perfect.) "Don't worry about it, I've spent long amounts of time away from the stage in the past, so I think I'd be okay either way. My leg actually feels great, I think I can put some pressure on it now."
@Sugar "Just because you're in a walking cast don't mean you can do everything normally." Ash cautioned. "You don't want to make it worse than it is."
"Of course not. Then again, I sound way more excited than I should be for someone who could've easily suffered a worse injury. Maybe I'm just glad that it wasn't any worse than it was." In any case, Sophie was more excited to learn and practice the flute after a while.
