@Sugar (according to Nurse Joy, Sophia needs three weeks of bed rest, and another three of therapy, although the timeframe could speed up or slow down based on how she heals.)
@Sugar Ash remembers the gigbag. "You said you played flute, right? I brought along some of my collection, if you want to see them--and hear them."
"Of course, I always have my flute with me, ready to play and ready to learn tunes, old and new. I haven't seen many flutes similar to my own, but I'm willing to take a look at a few of them Who knows, if I like the way one sounds, I may have to get myself a second flute."
@Sugar "Okay..." Ash looks through the gigbag. "In addition to my main Pokeflute and the D whistle, I have a 3 octave set of panpipes, a silver concert flute, which is actually used more for playing jazz; a wooden piccolo as a souvenir from Alola, three different sizes of recorders, a handmade bansi that one of the Kimono Girls gave me, and a genuine Alolan shaman's flute, traditionally used to enter the trance needed to commune with the spirits, but nowadays used for meditation."
"Hmm, let's see here." Sophie looked at a few of the flutes in the bag. Some were big, some were small, some had odd designs, and some just looked weird. After a while, she picked out the pai she liked the most. The silver concert flute and the Alolan shaman's flute were the ones she would like to look at and hear. "Let's try out these two." Sophie said curiously.
@Sugar (by concert flute, I mean the flute you see in a band or an orchestra) Ash noticed Sophie was admiring both the concert flute and the shaman's flute. After taking them out (and assembling the concert flute), he asked "Which of these two do you want to hear first?"
"Let's go ahead and give the concert flute a try. I've always been interested in such types of instruments. Let's see what kind of music it can make."
@Sugar (Ash did pack a few jam tracks in case Sophie wanted to see the concert flute--Brock and the girls will be happy to show off their instruments too.) Ash looked for the jam tracks he had packed. "Do you want to hear something relaxing or upbeat?"
"I would say upbeat if I could move my leg to dance, but let's go with something relaxing. Something that doesn't sound incredibly sad if you can."
@Sugar "I can probably do that." Ash replied before digging through the jam tracks. "Energy Pop, Latin Pop is out...so is Latin Rock..." He unearthed a track. "Ah-ha...Groovy Morning should do it."
"Groovy Morning?" Sophie asked, very curiously. "That sounds like two random words put together in order to make a creative song name. I'm interested though, wonder what it sounds like."
@Sugar "Jam tracks are often named for the rhythm, or the style of music it creates." Ash explained. "If it is a full on melody for you to improvise around, it gets a proper title." He loaded the jam track in the CD player. "This is an easy and relaxed jam with a bit of a groove to it." "Bossa Jam, 130 BPM--Groovy Morning." a female voice announced before a a relaxed, bossa nova like groove started, over which Ash's flute soared. (what Ash plays)
"Wow, I can get used to this jam." The song was something you could snap your fingers to for hours on end. She may have been a little skeptical at first, but Sophie was snapping both her fingers. It was a really fun song.
@Sugar (what else of Ash's collection do you want to see? He's only brought a fraction of his collection.)
@Sugar After ejecting the jam track, Ash went on. "Here's something a little faster in the same style. I used this track as the basis for my hit 'Round and Round'." "Bossa Jam, 135 BPM--Circles." the CD player reported before starting a slightly faster bossa nova rhythm. Ash joined in soon afterwards, creating a melody that weaved and circled around the recorded instruments. (what Ash plays)
This song had the type of rhythm Sophie could keep up with. It was a nice, smooth, rhythmic song that could really get a room going.
