Does anyone, besides me, switch out the games default starter for a different one. I do this just to have a more exotic Pokémon in the games. I've normally done this with Y and Sun where I just switch out my froakie or litten with a totodile. I've also done this with an Eevee which I evolved into an Umbreon named Aysun and a Rockruff named White Fang which I evolved into the midday version. I know I'm not the only one who's done this but I was just wondering who else has done this. It wasn't hard, at all in Y since I find the Pokémon to be pretty emotionless but darn it, Sun. Sun just makes me have the feels, first you make me feel things for the starters I didn't care for and then make my favorite character got to Kanto. I did it anyway but it was a little harder.
I don't usually switch out starters haha XD Actually, whenever a new gen comes out, I make sure to use nothing but the new Pokémon, just to see what they're like
I will sometimes swap the starter out for a non-starter Pokémon, but that is only if I've pretty much used all of the starters already or if I want to use an entire planned non-region specific team. On my first play-through of a new game I will always use the starter that's given to me.
I would, but it's too much work on an emulator since I don't have a 3DS or Nintendo Switch. If I could, my starter would always be Torchic. As for now, I will use whatever starter the game provides.
I don't really switch out my starter though, I usually have a main Pokémon on my team that's not my starter, like Metagross. I tend to like the starters in Pokémon games and often find that they mix well with other Pokémon.
When I first play a game, I always use one of the starters. However, subsequent times I will play with any Pokémon I want. I'll trade in entire teams sometimes in order to try out a variety of Pokémon.
I don't switch out starters for my first play through, I sometimes do it if I restart the game though.
I've never switched my starters out on any of my first playthroughs of a game. Or second since I usually nuzlocke them soon after. But one time I did switch my starter to a different one for a Nuzlocke: I switched Mudkip for Oshawott. It actually managed to make it all the way to the elite 4, which is an amazing feat since my starters almost never make it that far in a Nuzlocke. Heck, I've had my Turtwig in my semi-blind Platinum nuzlocke die in the first gym. Yes. I lost a grass type in the rock type gym. Because Cranidos got a crit headbutt, then proceded to use pursuit on my switch out. Point is that I've only switched my starter once.
