    Generally, when you've spent enough time around someone or certain people, you tend to pick up on their speech patterns as well as parts of their vocabulary.

    Do you feel that we can really be unique if all we're doing is adapting parts of other people's speech and making it our own?

    Have you ever consciously noticed someone using a certain phrase and started using it yourself? If so, has the person picked up on that and made a comment? Do you feel that by using someone else's wording or speech patterns that it brings you closer to them, or do you tend to do this more often with people you're closer to?

    Do you have any examples of phrases that you've "stolen" or "borrowed" from someone else?

    I generally do it with people I'm close to. Mainly my dad. I've taken his "Boum ba boump" which he actually stolefrom Blue, from Blue's Clues.

    I've picked up on countless things from friends and family, and YouTubers I've been watching regularly over the years. When angry at something (like in a video game), I would say "this is horse sh*t!" a lot, but over the years, I just shortened it to "this is HORSE!" Another phrase I "borrowed" and use a lot is "I don't even".
    If there's a complicated puzzle in a video game and it takes me a while to fully figure out, I'll sometimes get agitated and utter "Who thought of this!?" in quite a hostile manner. I have my own little "lines", but they're just lame, in all honesty (like that last one I just mentioned).

    I've took some people's quotes throughout the years, but I've never taken anyone's own words and used it as my own. Well, not yet.
    I didn't take any famous quotes, rather some old videogame quotes, and I found a good friend that way. She recognized the quote, and was surprised to hear it.
