Starting in generation 5, there were a number of nicknames that weren't allowed for your Pokémon. Did you have any nicknames that you were surprised that the games didn't let you nickname it?

Please refrain from using straight up offensive language in this thread. Thank you ;)

I remember something about not being able to trade a Cofagrigus, Froslass or Nosepass without nicknames, because their names contain the words fag or ass, which apparently was offensive enough to be censored xD I just find it really funny that their own Pokémon names aren't safe for the censoring policy :P

A friend of mine tried to name one of their Pokémon "Viola", but couldn't because of the viol in there (which he later learned had certain negative connotations in French). Thumper, Spike, and Humphrey were also rejected for a while, yet "lilasskicker" went through with no problems, according to some stories I've heard. I tried all of these names just now in X, though, and they thankfully seem to have been fixed! I think my Raichu's name, Cresky, might have also been banned at one time, but I don't remember for certain.

I recall wanting to name a Stunky I caught/hatched something to do with a "fart" and it wouldn't let me. I was just shaking my head, because even in the most innocent rated G shows/movies, the word "fart" is allowed. Come on, GameFreak!

As already mentioned, the weirdest by far were the names of certain Pokémon (seems like it's been fixed in OR/AS). What's especially strange is that names like... NSFW warning:

    AssDisaster & CummyQueen

    aren't censored.

I remember nicknaming my Porygon-Z Takakkei, which was Japanese for... something I can't remember. When I transferred it onto my Gen 6 games, it defaulted the name back to Porygon Z, because the nickname was inappropriate. I'm still trying to figure out why: is there some rude connection in the name somewhere?

I know someone who wanted to name their Totodile "Spaz", but it wouldn' let him. Does that word have negative connotations outside of the U.S.?

Yes. Calling someone a "Spaz" is pretty much calling them erratic and weird, but on a greater scale. =\

If I recall correctly, I believe "Bulbasaur" was banned too, and I have absolutely no idea why. I could be wrong, of course, so don't quote me on this.

I always thought the censoring was a little weird, but honestly, I understand why it's necessary for the younger kids who haven't been exposed to the corrupt world known as the internet. There are so many messed up nicknames that could be done without the censorship. Though it is pretty flawed since it bans some of its own Pokémon names.
