Are there songs you like to listen to while studying? Do you prefer to listen to a specific genre when you're doing your homework or when working on whatever assignment you are doing?

I usually don't listen to music while studying, but since I have serious issues when it comes to staying focused to studying, I've started to listen to classical music since I heard that can help you focus. Believe it or not, but it's working. My music teacher (the same one who convinced me to take music class in the last three years of my school time) recommended this symphony to me:

..to be honest, I really like it. If this will be the reason I become a fan of classical music, I guess I'll have to thank my music teacher later.

Generally when I study, or when I draw, I will turn on my Pandora "Electronic for studying" station. before I found this one I would listen to film scores. it really doesn't matter as long as there aren't any words

I don't turn on music cause I don't study because I'd get distracted by it, especially when my phone eventually found its way to Slipknot :P

I did buy a 99 cent album called "The 99 Most Essential Classical Pieces For Your Mind" off Amazon. Some fairly good stuff there, I must admit.

As for listening to it when I'm studying, well, screw that noise (pun intended). I go for fast-paced upbeat metal to keep me awake and thinking. I'm talking Gojira, Dethklok, and even a little bit of Trivium.

I will agree with @[member="HiddenLore"] that wordlessness is sometimes nice to make music less-distracting. If I feel that need coming along, I usually go to videogame OST remixes. A lot of that is good quality, already makes good background music, and tends not to have words.

I study well without music, but if my roommates are gaming I'll turn on a quiet video game music for studying, there are millions of compilations on youtube

@[member='Megarai111'], Ohh, the New World is a good one. I like music, and sometimes listen to it when working. Not studying though, just working. Moonlight Sonata used to be really good for studying or for looking through textbooks, and now I usually just let my spotify discover weekly roll with it when I'm working on projects and stuff

It generally depends on my mood and what I'm trying to accomplish. For me anything can be study music as long as it's not too depressing or too soft. That song you used could work for me but it wouldn't work as well for me. A good song for me would be he's a pirate by klaus badelt.

    lol same

I remember last school year, and a couple times this year, if I really wanted to sit down and focus on my homework, I would blast Sail lol. It's a very motivational song for me, one of my favorites actually. I love it, and it helped me get my homework done.

I don't have any certain types of study music, because I uhh... don't really study anymore. :P I cram sometimes, but I don't really sit down and study.
But let's consider cramming as studying for a short moment. The music I listen to when cramming doesn't differ than what I listen to on a daily basis. That would be Rock, Hip-Hop/Rap, sometimes EDM, OSTs, and etc. It all depends on my mood and what I feel like listening to at the time.

However, I try to stray away from songs that are too good and keep distracting me. I'm talking about the songs you know all the lyrics to, that has an awesome instrumental, and that you could listen to over and over. Those kind of songs are the ones I don't listen to when cramming, because cramming means studying intensely for a short period of time, and even though I'd much rather enjoy my music than study, I can't risk wasting precious study time.

When it comes to music while doing work. I mostly listen to any kind of music when I do my college assignments. But there are times when I don't listen to music due to class rules.

Generally, I listen to slow songs. Ballads and the more toned down classical music really helps me pace myself. I don't really go over anything that is around 100 or morr beats per minute.

I sometimes listen to music while studying. I prefer silent songs. Rock songs or just songs with more beats distracts me.

I usually listen to some hard rock when I study.
It helps keep the focus up and leaves room for fewer distractions.
I have it down to a moderate volume as well, because then, I could not hear my trainer/teacher.
