On this thread we can discuss our tactics, teams, and fighters. But since Stall is banned, we are doomed!
We could also always do a rain team. Rain teams are deadly in OU, with stuff like swift swim and drizzle
I've put togehter a preliminary OU rain team that currently meet the standards. Let me know what your thoughts are. No, I am not changing the Focus Sash on Ashninja to a Choice Specs. Choice Specs is dumb. Spoiler: Rain Team Pitter Pat (Pelipper) @ Damp Rock Ability: Drizzle EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Hurricane - Scald - Roost - Tailwind Shoulda Beat Alain (Greninja-Ash) (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Battle Bond EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Water Shuriken - Hydro Pump - Dark Pulse - Ice Beam Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Earthquake - Waterfall - Ice Punch - Rock Slide Mamoswine @ Life Orb Ability: Thick Fat EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Ice Shard - Earthquake - Stealth Rock - Icicle Crash Tangrowth @ Assault Vest Ability: Regenerator EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 228 SpD Sassy Nature - Knock Off - Giga Drain - Hidden Power [Ice] - Earthquake PowerWashed (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers Ability: Levitate Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Will-O-Wisp - Thunderbolt - Hydro Pump - Pain Split
I would prefer a team which doesn't rely on weather, because they are always risky. I will make a team tomorrow.
Choice Specs Geninja is actually very deadly, as you saw in our Showdown battle. I still think that Toxapex is viable despite the rules though. Toxapex @ Black Sludge Ability: Regenerator EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD Calm Nature - Scald - Haze - Recover - Infestation Since multiple status moves are banned, I've replaced Toxic/Toxic Spikes with Infestation. Reason being, since Toxapex can effectively wall Pokémon who don't have the right moves, Infestation traps them, making them unable to switch out.
Liking Ozones team though i prefer specs whatever. On another note i know of a hilarious team (need to find it probably will post tomorrow) that utilizes smeargle with geomancy by using the rules the move "assist" follows to get a geomancy meowstic as a sweeper.
I will lol, works if they don't have too many darks Stored Power Assist and Geomancy are some fun moves
I like Ozone's rain team. We are going to have to rely on weather eventually, I say get it out of the way early. Only thing is that Pelipper should have Surf instead of Scald for more power since we don't want to risk the stupid one status rule from being a nuisance. Also we may not need max speed on some of the fast ones. We only need enough speed to outspeed the next fastest Pokémon allowed in the format, so we could add a tiny bit of extra bulk. Also don't underestimate the choice items. I agree that Greninja should keep sash, but Specs and Scarf would also be deadly with different investments for each.
Scald isn't an intentional status move and therefore can burn multiple mons if we want. Since burns come in handy completely destroying physical attackers i recommend we stay with scald.
Yeah, the only intentional burner we have is Rotom Wash with WoW. Scald Burns are a-okay EDIT, also, all the Choice scarfers I usually use are banned AAkrgnak;ergnakrgnk. Looking at you Papercut and Clown of Explodo-kill
Ok Rules update/clarification Toxic Spikes is allowed toxapex can now be useful Substitute is allowed on mons if its offensive and wold expert approves. I recommend using toxapex round 1 because of crimson uses it then we can't. toxapex has recover toxic spikes along with its regenerator ability. and we also get haze and scald great mon. Keeping this in mind crimson will probably bring some counters for it and we will need some too. Toxapex is technically a counter so that should work. I still recommend something with defog to over rocks and spikes
Sad part is I was about to suggest something along these lines. I guess great minds think alike? Anybody else got any ideas? My other suggestion was something along the lines of a sandstorm team but I'm not certain how viable that suggestion is. I do agree with bringing in mons from lower tiers and we need at least one z crystal on this team. They may be one shot cannons, but one shot in the right place can turn the tides of a battle.
I was thinking suicide lead Pokémon with stealth rocks along with toxapex as haze toxic spikes stall/chip damage or maybe a lead with both rocks and spikes but defog would end all of that quickly. despite the fact this is supposed to be anti-stall ferrothorn and toxapex can still do a great job
Alright, we'll save the rain team for next week and use some bigger threats now. Here is a Toxapex set I made in order to do as well as possible. It is Minimum Speed in order to counter Trick Room if it is brought, has just enough bulk to take a Max Attack Jolly Life Orb Garchomp's Earthquake and guarantee survival, and the same for a Mega Alakazam's Psychic. Toxapex @ Leftovers Ability: Regenerator EVs: 252 HP / 84 Def / 92 SpA / 80 SpD Relaxed Nature IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe - Toxic Spikes - Haze - Recover - Venoshock/Scald Now should we build a team around it?
Oh I have one but not very usual Toxicroak @ Big root Abilityry skin -posion jab -Rain dance -Sucker punch -Drain punch Although there are no EV/IV/Nature I think it is good enough. It may not be the strongest Pokémon but it is just a prototype. You can just temper it around and make it better.
