So, we can imagine, people replacing your heart or other parts. Looks gory eh? Well, have you got to a point where you had one?

Me? Not yet (though I had to go somewhere in a hospital where my head bled as hell, but not so much effort was made to stop it) but a close friend did. I guess it related to a brain cancer he had.

My sister and I had to go to hospital to have tooth surgery. Our teeth are pretty bad (as our saliva dissolves enamel slowly, instead of repairing it), so the surgery couldn't be done at the dentist. It had to be done at a hospital, under anesthetic, which took three hours each! It was really nerve racking to wait, though.

I've never had very intense surgery before. I had all four wisdom teeth removed six months ago (and I do consider that surgery, since three of them had to be cut out of my head in pieces and I was at least somewhat incapacitated for two and a half days afterward (only could take painkillers once after the surgery), full recovery took a month), and another minor surgery for a small foot injury I got, and that had one to be done in two parts.

Transplant surgery is a big deal though: whether it's a major organ or even something like bone or skin, it all has a possibility of infection or rejection, each of which is super hard to deal with. Hopefully I never find myself in a position to need someone else's body parts to replace mine, though I am an organ donor. Wouldn't that be something, though? I die young and my organs are donated to a stranger, who then dies of infection or rejection. I could kill someone from beyond the grave! Mwahahaha!

... uh, yeah, my imagination can be twisted and evil sometimes. I really hope that doesn't happen; I'm the type who would at least want someone to benefit from my early demise by receiving a healthy and cooperative organ from me.

I've had surgery once and that was to have a (non life-threatening) tumor removed.

By the way guys, sign up to be organ donors, cause then the EMTs will fight harder to keep you alive. Remember, your organs are only good for so long after you die :P

The only major surgery I've had so far was appendectomy when I was in 6th grade, since my appendix exploded and it needed to be removed. It wasn't too bad, I still have a 2-inch long scar above my right hip from it, but the recovery wasn't too bad. Ruby and Sapphire had just been released, so I kept myself occupied with that while I was healing, haha.

I did have a couple other minor incidents that I got treated for- one was a chipped tooth that my dentist fixed, and the other was a small wound that wouldn't stop bleeding that I had to get cauterized. Neither took very long, so it wasn't any major invasive surgery or anything like that.

I know later this year I'm hopefully getting one of my reproductive organs removed as long as insurance approves it (the recovery for the surgery I want isn't too bad, so I'm not that worried), and in the future I also want to get chest reconstruction surgery (which will be a lot more intensive, recovery-wise. I'll be out of commission for a while, so I'm going to save up sick/vacation time at work before I even consider that). Other than that, I've been very healthy- so unless something major goes wrong, I don't plan on having any other surgeries.

Never had surgery but I'm trying to get chest reconstruction surgery and have my reproductive organs removed as well. Probably won't happened for years but is what I'm aiming for.
