Most artists get to where they are today but a lot of hard work and about .0001% talent. Although there are people out there who just seem to have a knack for drawing and I would honestly consider that more talent than anything. But I feel as if that's a small minority of artists as everyone I've met has had to work to get to where they are. What about you guys? Is your art style now more from hard work or talent? Mine is absolutely 100% hard work i can't draw to save my life half the time.
Hard work. I sucked so bad when I was younger and then I started sitting up the table after school drawing. (Instead of doing homework mind you) And I just drew. Honestly I would've given up pretty quickly if I didn't find it fun and a neat escape from reality (of which my reality for school at least sucked. Low grades not many friends heaps of bullies heck this went on for 7 years non stop) Drawing is a lot of hard work and talent is just what comes from the hard work.
Hmm I guess that's why people automatically assume and say "Hey you're so talented!" because they only see the results of the hard work? That's interesting to think about.
I have some super old art that is legit stick figures. Although I didn't have a ton of actual art classes under my belt, I practiced and traced/read books a ton. My father was also a artist (for a while, not anymore) and would spend some time showing me how he drew. Family likes to say that my father's talent rubbed off onto me but I have to say that I did a lot of drawing practice growing up..
I like to think I have some talent I have inherited from my mother, but honestly, if I didn't draw as much as I do, my art would look pretty awful to be honest. While I am not yet at the level I would like to be, I think I have grown immensely over the past few months, and will only continue to improve if I keep working hard
Work, Work, And more Work to get to where I am now, I never gave up and just kept working, and I still need to work hard to be able to draw things I could be 100% proud of ^^
I don't really have any natural talent when it comes to anything, art included. I'm still trying to put in the hard work to improve, but my relative lack of patience when it comes to this sort of thing is making it particularly challenging for me.
