What is your relationship like with telling the truth? Do you think it acceptable to lie in some circumstances, or is honesty always the best policy, even if it involves breaking someone else's trust, or saying something that might be considered tactless or cruel? Does the truth justify itself, or are little lies a necessary evil in order to maintain harmonious relationships? Be honest - just how honest are you?
Nothing is true, everything is permitted. Or rather, a variation of that. The only things that are true are the things that affect you at all, and anything is permitted if it doesn't hurt anybody. Two caveats: social reputation affects you, so lying can be bad; and you can be a victim of your own lies, so be careful with those. Lies are sometimes helpful, but generally I do think they're more trouble than they're worth. When you tell lies, you need to keep track of who knows what and who might tell whom what, and what actually is reality and how would things be if the lie were true, and all of that. But if you tell the truth and live truthfully? You only need to know one story for all situations.
I always try to tell the truth but sometimes it is really hard so I sometimes stretch the truth a bit so that I don't feel too terrible about it. Overall, I would try to avoid lying if at all possible so that I won't be known for lying all the time.
Spoiler Today was my exam. I was busy reading the questions from the question paper and writing answers in the answer sheet, when, the guy who sat before me, whispered to me, asking "Niyati(my real name), did you write your roll number on your question paper?" I knew he was gonna ask me to pass my question paper to him or he was gonna pass his to me, carefully so that the teacher doesn't realize, then I'll have to write a few answers for him. To be honest, I actually didn't write my roll number on my paper. But I replied, "yes." Much to his disappointment. I didn't want to get into any trouble. Trust me!.., I know how it feels like not having your question paper with you, when the teacher is there in the class, and even looking at you. My point is, I understand its a sin to lie, and I hate myself for lying, but, human nature. At least, my nature. I don't like getting in trouble. I lie a few times. Spoiler And, what are you supposed to do but tell a lil' real/fake lie, when you went out to meet your boyfriend, saying that you're going out to buy snacks(I really do go and buy snacks ok), and you're late by like 10-15 minutes, and mummy asks you the reason you're so late??? I get so scared, man!!
I tell the truth most of the time, but there are delicate situations where I have lied and do lie in order to prevent problems. At work, if I have to close down the restroom and there is something disgusting in there, my bosses have ordered me to not tell the customers what I am cleaning up. Sometimes, I have to lie about what I am doing to keep them out of the restroom for health and safety purposes AND to not gross out the customers. When I had to explain Pokémon breeding to my then 6 year old niece, I had to give her the "stork" version because she is too young for "the talk" and I do NOT want to be the one to explain it to her. I had a coworker who had something happen to their niece in the store. When people asked me if I knew anything, I told them no to protect her privacy. Are they lies, yes, and lying is wrong. My point is I am doing it to protect others, and in those cases lying is acceptable to a point.
I don't like lying but I have to..a lot. Dad doesn't know my online life- if he did, I wouldn't be able to be here and spend time with the only friends I have anymore. I have to hide back stuff from the past and tell people white lies about it because dad doesn't want his mistakes out. It's at a point I can lie pretty well, and that's sad. But I have to.
I don't like lying, so instead I don't tell the whole truth. I try to hold on to this idea and tell people only part of what's really going on just because I don't want to lie to them. However, there are times where that just isn't possible and I have to make up a complete lie. I'm honestly not very good at coming up with something on the spot and because of that I just prefer to tell the truth always. However I am really good at playing it cool, so much so I could make you believe that I thought I went to the moon and back, I just am not good at coming up with something believable in such a time constraint so half truth is just faster.
I only lie out of laziness. Sometimes my parents will ask me if I did a chore and I’ll lie that I did. Usually it’ll go like this: “Ben, did you take the trash out?” “Yup.” It’s a really bad habit and I need to quit doing it.
